I am looking at buying an X2, but would like to know how they perform. I only got to use one for a little bit and saw that it picks balls up easily. How is the throwing and catching? I realize that it is a bit wider than other heads, so it is comparable to the Proton? Also, why all of the sudden are they really expensive?
Thanks!

I can't really comment on the first two questions, but I believe they went up in price because they have been discontinued and anyone who uses them will have to get them now.

They catch really well because of the wide face. GBs are good as you mentioned, and shooting is great on my X2. The only thing the X2 sacrifices is having more "ball control" b/c it isnt pinched. But hey.....learn to protect your stick. I think this head is amazing for middies because it is incredibly strong so it works well on defense. Also the head is pretty tight at faceoffs if you are looking for a strong, rigid faceoff head. And yes they are now expensive because they are discontinued.
Where are you planning on buying one? Please link me.

There are many reviews and threads about the X2, please search, and this is the wrong forum.
-Generally, throwing and catching depends 90% on how you string it.
-It was actually made after the Proton and the Excalibur, so they are very similar. The Proton is just lighter and the X2 is stiffer.
-They're so expensive lately because defenseman love them and they've been discontinued this year. Grab one for cheap if you can.
