What are your opinions on live music? Personally I think live music is way better than listening to it on an ipod or anything.
Also who have you seen live? A couple of weeks ago a saw punk legends Lagwagon, who were supported by 2 of my fav local bands (Ballpoint and Stand Defiant) and it was awesome. I was meant to be going to see Against Me! tonight but the tickets sold out before i could get one.

Watching a band live is a true test to whether the band is actually good. I think anyband that focuses on their live show rather than studio albums is the way to go, it proves they are better musicians. Also I like downloading live shows onto my ipod because that is the second best thing.
Live Shows i've seen recently:
Mike Gordon (phish) and Leo Kottke
Yonder Mountain String Band
Moe.
Umphrey's McGee
Blues Traveller (once at Redrocks, once under the Arch)
Shows im seein soon:
Keller Williams
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Umphrey's again
and maybe Matisyahu

Getting to see music live is a big reason for liking it in the first place! Music just sounds that bit more brutal live.
Recent shows ive seen:
My Ruin
Black Dahlia Murder
Deadpad (last night, local band, check out www.deadpad.com if you like industrial metal!)
Shows ive got tickets for soon:
God Forbid & Trivium
Berzerker (two shows, has cost me sooo much money to book hotels and trains etc. but will be more than worth it).

Say what you want about the guy, Kid Rock is an incredible performer live, he knows how to put on a show and entertain people whether you like his music or not, his studio albums don't do him justice. Just bought tickets to a conert at BU, he has a live album coming out in a few days too.

List of bands I've seen:
Avenged Sevenfold
B.B. King
Nickelback
Trapt
3 Days Grace
The Offspring
Dropkick Murphys
MCR (but I don't like them, it was at warped tour and my friends wanted to see them so I had too)
Senses Fail(same thing as above, but they're better than MCR)
I saw 1.5 songs by Fallout Boy and decided I didn't care anymore
Part of the Starting Line and All American Rejects sets
A little bit of Atreyu, but I don't really like them either
MXPX
I heard Dillinger Escape Plan from underneath a pavillion across a huge lawn because there was a thunderstorm, but they kept playing. I wish I went to see them.
Aiden, but I don't like them either
Bayside
Joe Bonnamassa
I NEED to see Iron Maiden live before they stop touring.

I think live is WAY better than album recording, hands down. I've seen 3 Doors Down, Alter Bridge, Staind, and No Address.

I like smaller live shows where you can be right in front of the band...shows with more than like 1000 or so people aren't really fun cuz its either in a civic center type of thing or is just really crowded. Of course I'm not including like outdoor festivals and stuff because those are the best.
Live shows are good when the band is good, I've seen some bands live and gotten into them just by how good they are live like Funeral For A Friend who is one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Then there are bands live that are just brutal or who will havbe a bad show and then you'll be turned off of them. A band that can perform good live and sound great is just that much more reason to like them. Concerts are also a good way to spend a night seeing as most of the concerts I go to tickets sell for less tahn $20 and usually are only like $10 or $12.
Joan Baez
I want to start seeing more though. Still, Joan Baez, pretty good for only live show.

Did you see Maiden when you went to Ozzfest or was it VR at that point? Either way it's good, but Maiden is just light years ahead of VR.

Atreyu
Unearth
Him
Eighteen Visions
Kill Hannah
Devildriver
Turbonegro
GWAR
PM5K
RA
Shinedown
Screams of Erida

And to answer a question above if you didnt already know, Madien is going on tour in November and I think they are coming out with a new cd as well. However, I think the tour is starting over seas, but it could move into the states... I dont know, I just heard about the overseas tour.

All I heard was that they were doing a tour in Europe, and they aren't doing Ozzfest ever again because of what Sharon did last year, so the only option left is a Us tour, which will cost upwards of $300. It'll be worth it though.
And how messed up were you after the GWAR show? I heard nobody at the show leaves without blood, fake or real, or fake.....um.....man stuff.... on them.

Live music is the best. I've seen...
The Goo Goo Dolls
Dashboard Confessional
Taking Back Sunday
Atreyu (they were awful. It wasn't that I didn't like their music, it was because they're just horrible live, in my opinion.)
Funeral for a Friend
The Last Broadcast
Brand New
MXPX
Coldplay (amazing show)
and some local bands.
too bad I don't listen to most of those bands anymore...

I heard a runour that AC/DC might be touring down under late this year but I have a feeling its not true, but I'd love to go see them if they do. I'm going to this thing called MS Fest in a few weeks, theres gonna be a few bands there that are popular in Australia, Grinspoon, Shihad and a fair few others. Should be good

Velvet Revolver just sucks. I would have thrown hand grenades at them, if I had some.

The best concert I've been to was Jack Johnson at Red Rocks. The whole place reeked like weed. None of the cops seemed to care. Too bad I was with my anti-stoner friend.

Why use a negative adjective like reek? Least it didn't smell like 300 pound fat man like it did at the Black Dahlia Murder show I went to.

Hmm, if you count them chopping off puppet heads and putting it into the audience and like spewing out "blood" on everyone, and like having weird dinosaur things, ect... messed up then yes... lol... It was a good concert, I had no idea what to expect but it was a real fun concert. Everyone gets convered in like sugar water. If I see them again I will wear a white tee shirt so I can get that drenced in what they spray at everyone.

the one band that i'm sorry i'll never see will be nightwish w/ tara turunen. just find a bootleg of one of their shows and that voice over those metal melodies were amazing.
i actually saw porcupine tree at a prog rock festival called progscape in towson, md a few years ago. nice gig although they had to play w/out their backing tracks as i recall steve wilson said that they had left them behind at an earlier gig.
kc has always been the progressive band of progrock. the 70's band w/ bruford, cross & wetton just delivered the goods gig after gig. they toured w/ percussionist jamie muir who was famous for wearing gorilla suits and swinging links of chain during their shows. now could kiss beat that? :)

I live in keller's hometown and two(maybe three years ago i can't remember) i was working at a fishing shop next to a park where keller would play for free every tuesday and it just so happened to be during my lunch break it was so awesome. and i'm hoping to get tickets to bonnaroo for graduation this year which would be insane. over the summer i went to warped tour(my friend got me a ticket for free) and the best shows were offspring(who brought out a firehose on a 103degree day) and dropkick murphys(who were just great all around) by far.

I'm going to see American punk band Strung Out who will be supported by Death By Stereo in June. Gonna be rad.
Also if I can get the money together I'm going to go to the Come Together Festival 06 which is at Lunar Park in Sydney. Check it out at www.cometogether.com.au there are some pretty decent acts going but apart from the international bands, some of the acts might not be well known out of Aus. looks pretty good
