do the balls that are kind of shiny throw differently then the ones that arent... cause when i fixed my stick it would throw amazingly with a shiny ball but when i broke out the not shiny ones it would throw a whole lot different so is it the balls or me?

Yeah. Shiny balls mean they lost all their grip so they would have less whip and a much smoother release.

yea shiny=lost grip; non-shiny= close to new balls, have their grip. Personally, i like grippy balls for more hold and control since i play d, and need to manuever around shortys for clearin, But i never really payed attention during the beginngin of the game if we used brand new balls

shiny balls(squibs) are terrible, we had one that went straight up if you throw it.

around here we call them slippery balls and like half of the balls that our team has are like them, its cuz when we go outside in the mud and stuff and they just loose their grip, but they can completely change the way that a stick throws you just have to deal with it

Actually, I had a bunch of Brine balls that I thought lost their grip after using it once cause they got all muddy but then I used one in the tub to use as a drain plug and it got cleaned off and all the grip was there again. So then I washed about all 18 of them and they all got their grip back. You just have to rub the dirt off them.

you can string it to both... i cant tell a difference whether im using a squib or a brand new ball anymore.

i know wat your talking about but i dont think it has anythig to do with how old it is i think its to do with the surface that your playing on
like in box the ball wont get slippery because wen it hits the pavement or concreet it gets scuffed up
but in feild were we play one mostly astrop turff and the odd grass feild the ball gets shined due to the surface not being ruff enuff to scuff the surface of the ball

one way to kinda put a grip on them is wash them with extremely hot water, or let them soak in water, it doesnt last long though

lol

took a sander and blasted the layer off? wouldnt that make them kind of uneven?
or boxy seems it would be harder to throw

I have a ball that is so old it regained its grip because it dry rotted. Kind of a bad idea when you think about it, but it feels like a new one

Nah, just a quick sanding until the color lightens. No change in shape.

For some reason, the grippy ones stick to the mesh in my Kannon, but the shiny ones don't...:-/. It's definitely not cool.

I hate shiny balls dude, they suck. They are so slick that you can't feel it in your stick. I like feeling my balls in my stick.

Yeah like all of my balls are shiners. Its annoying. I get used to that then play a game with new balls and my throwing gets messed up.
