I've been using a slightly pinched (flared sidewalls) profile for the past year and a half. I've used it for indor league, camps, a season and for some box up in toronto and it's still in perfect condition. The store probably pinched it improperly and left it for too long in the heat or weakened it too much.

and another question

I have broken two profiles in that spot and other players on my team have broken 4 or 5

I've had a finalizer break in that spot. The bad thing about breaking a head on a lower sidewall is taping won't work. The head basically bends in half during games.

mine broke in the exact same spot, the ball was too far out to my right, i swung down at it, missed and leaned on the head on the ground, and heard the snap

Mine broke at the top of the scoop, where I've heard other people have broken theirs. It's been almost a year since then, no problems.

profiles are cheap when it comes to durability

ive had two, one broke on the throat and a another on the sidewall... they seem pretty thick and durable but their not

I broke mine in the upper right part of the scoop. But the wierd thing was that i didnt realize it was broken untill I was in car ride home after practice. I had it for like 7 months and it was a cold day so I guess that's why it broke. But the new one I got has no signs of breaking.

From what I've heard, they usually break on the nidewall near the scoop. My friend has one and that's where his broke, on both sides. Other then that, they seem to usually hold up fairly well. He should take it back to the store and get it replaced. If the store wont because it's pinched, ask them to try getting a new one from stx. The owner of the lax shop here said that they usually don't mind replacing pinched heads and since it's a wierd place for them to break, they may just replace it for you.
As for them being worth $130 Canadian, they used to be $120 but have droped to $90. Bringing them over the border costs a lot, just like any other equipment. You might be able to get a full stick on ebay for $80.

yeah i hear they break often, if you want a stiff head after pinching, get a fuse and take the rubber off and pinch it, best thing you could ever do!

k i am starting to hear bad things about the profile
to me it sounds like you either get one that is week or a super strong one that will never break

the first generation profile was very weak, the second generation one is much stronger.
