The University of Mary Washington defeated ranked (13 or 16, depending on the poll) Hampden-Sydney College 10-9 today at UMW's Battleground Atlhetic Complex. Hampden-Sydney came out early with a 2-0 lead. After a goal by UMW, HS scored again to make it 3-1. Mary Washington scored back-to-back goals to make it 3-3 and never trailed again. Goal scorers for UMW included seniors Greg Rose, Dave Morris, Nick Martino, and Danny love, juniors Matt Morrell and Keith Sweeny, and freshman Sean Brown. UMW defenseman Brad Madson held HSC standout and former John Hopkins transfer Vince Smith to one goal and two assists. In related news, St Mary's College defeated Roanoke college 10-5, completing a very successful day for the Capital Athletic Conference over the normally dominating ODAC.

soclax were you at the game? I was and sydney just had a weakness for ground balls. it was disappointing
