Hopkins vs. Albany

Being a relative Albany "native", I was incredibly impressed by their 10-8 effort in the season opener against Hopkins, but what really stands out is UAlbany goalie's own goal.

Agreed, but Albany is VERY underrated. They are a legit NCAA tourney team. They will suprise a lot of people.

I met one of their trainers at a camp, he was a great guy, very laid back.

albany is not the doormat that biopro seems to think that they are. I'm not sure that i'd go as far as SDS and call them a tourney team (yet). they are definatley a top 20 team.
also hopkins is coming with massive graduation and more than a few injured players. i'm not sure they are deserving of the #2 ranking

Queener goal was unreal. I've seen goalie's go down field before but only to be destroyed by a defender.

I saw the game...it wasn't as close as the final score tells. Hop was in control most of the game but they got sloppy at the end. That said, Albany is definitely legit and the goalie played really well

look on e-lacrosse , the herkimer(sp?) vs essex championship and you can watch how amazing he is. look for the brett queener clips.

3rd quarter i think. and he scored the same way ever goalie does. ran up field, put his head down and took some hits, and took an inside shot.

anyone think he was over agressive on clears, as a whole that game? i'm really 50/50 on it, since it never hurt the team, it obviously wasn't too bad, but it looked like he may or may not have been tryin to do too much himself.

he has excellent stickwork and the athletic ability to get the ball down the field with his feet.. his poles didn't seem to be too careful when they handled the ball, so I don't really have a problem with him carrying the ball. My goalie in college had 3 goals in one season... he did tend to get caught out of position sometimes, but rarely.

Hopkins won 9-8 against a weak Penn team and went 9-6 against Princeton, a team Hopkins should have dominated based on its overall performance last year. And this was with all the star players. So since Hopkins almost lost to penn that year, was it undeserving of its #1 ranking?
