I'm just curious how many officials we have on this board. Maybe we could also post what state you officiate in too. I don't know, I think we have a good number of officials here, just want to know numbers.

I voted 'I'm not an official'. But I'm going to take classes so I can be.

How was John Hill's camp??John's camp can be very good if you want it to be. District VIII where I work tries to send 1-2 guys each year...usually guys with 2-4 years experience who want to start working on advancement. I went into it with some 3-man experience, but most of the 17 guys in our group had little or no 3-man experience. While I went in wanting to polish what I knew and hoping to learn some new things so I could advance to the next level, most of the guys were just trying to learn the mechanics. Either way, you have the opportunity to get out of it what you want. You work 3-4 games a day for 3-4 days. John walks around and takes notes. After each game, the group gets together and John shares his notes with everyone. There is also classroom time, specific drill time such as faceoffs and goal crease violations, and of course, late night social time. I accomplished what I wanted to get out of it. I think there were some with less experience that honestly didn't learn a whole lot but not because it wasn't offered, more because the same people probably don't get much out of anything they do! I believe there is now a tournament either before or after the camp that will give you a chance to make back the money spent on the camp. If you are serious about spending a few days learning or perfecting 3-man mechanics, I think it is a great camp. Much smaller group than say Vail where you get some, but not a lot, of observation time by John himself. And of course you come home with the hats and tshirts to show off to the guys who haven't been. If you're just looking for a few days away from the office, you're wasting everyone's time. If you decide to go, let me know and I'll give you some travel and lodging tips regarding dorm vs. hotel.

John, if you happen to see this endorsement, please put the check in the mail ASAP! Smitty from Texas
