i think its ok, but you're better off if you put one in it so it doesnt go flying off in the middle of a play.

You don't have to have a screw.
It's not a bad idea to use the screw, but if you just put a layer or two of tape at the top of the shaft, and jam the head on, it's probably not going anywhere.
Case and point, I had a Shockwave on Mohawk Ti done with tape and a screw. Had to take the head off the shaft so I could trade it. I unscrewed it, and then myself and another guy had to tug-of-war for like 5 minutes to get the ******* separated!
That's not coming off during a game!

But if you shoot and score, and the head comes loose, the goal is disallowed. No reason not to have the screw IMO. It doesn't add weight and secures the head where it needs to stay. Why would you NOT want to use a screw?

I didn't say don't use it.
I'm just saying if you don't have a drill, a screwdriver, or the right sized machine screw handy, it ain't the end of the world!
No word of a lie, my last tape job was so good that myself and my 250+ pound buddy took five minutes to separate the head from the shaft. We were both using both hands, and leaning into it.
That's not going to come off on a shot or stick check!
