My teachers and principals and everyone hate lacrosse, our school is more into the baseball and track and feild category. We aren't the best lacrosse team and thats sort of why, but one of our deans came and talked to us in the locker room on day about the issue and he brought up a pretty good point about why some teachers dont like us, "you dont see baseballs flying down the hallways during the day, do you?"
So anyways, what does your school think?

My school said that they didn't want to introduce another club sport into the school so now we have to play for a school 1/2 hour away.

Heck, nobody understand what lax is except my team and my friends whom I always talk about lax with. My teachers know that I play, but I hve to explain everything to them which is a pain in the butt.

We don't get to practice until 4:30 at my school because baseball and track get to use the feilds. We don't get any night games. We just get the seconds basically. We don't get any respect.

our school has been really good to our team for a public school. Our boosters pretty much lets us gets what ever we want as long as we can justify it to them. We got new CPX's this year and they let us design our own sweatshirts and warm ups which are tight.

It is the most popular sport at our school, and along with softball it is the most sucessfull. We get more stuff than baseball and soccer and we are in Tennessee so I feel pretty lucky. We are a private school too.

We are a second year team and arn't even officially affiliated with the school, but they don't really support us in a financial way we all have to pay a $275 club fee and then buy our gear, but I guess they support us with what we are doing. And for the students, a lot of kids that don't play know what the sport is and stuff and they seem to have an interest in it most of the time (not playing wise, but they see it as cool sport)

At Father Ryan in Nashville, Tennessee lacrosse is starting to gain more popularity, but it still remains a club sport. One thing that makes our team really really mad is that even if soccer doesnt have a game the same day as us, we have to use the practice field because lacrosse isnt "worthy" enough to get to use the good field. Our practice field is basically all sand and dead grass, and when it rains it gets muddy and we tear it up even more. I think that lacrosse is a lot more exciting than baseball or soccer or any of that. At lunch i never here anyone talking about soccer or baseball; half of the guys on those teams want to hear about what happened at our lacrosse games, like who scored and who got laid out or whatever. I sort of went a little further than necessary but ya we do not get any respect for our sport at FR.

Most of the teachers and students who don't play don't really acknowledge lacrosse too much. Our team isn't that great, I mean we usually finish like 6-9 or something like that and occasionally on a nice day people will come watch us play. They find it more entertaining to watch then baseball so yea. The only thing is a lot of us lacrosse players like to screw around a lot so the more uptight teachers don't like us and complain to the coach while the cooler teachers usually think we're funny.

Our school has treated our lacrosse team very good considering we've never won more than 8 games in a season. Certainly were not as big as football or basketball, but more kids come to see us play than other sports.

My school also doesn't like us cause some retard decided to play wallball at our school and I dont know what it is but now the walls (outside) have dents in them. You would think the walls outside would be stronger then that. My neighbor (like 40 years old) told me that when he played in high school it was just a small club, not really a real sport anywhere, but the football coaches taught it, and what they would do was they would take some of the biggest fastest footballer defensemen and put them in defense and their team was really good.

yea my school doesnt like lax at all. the students and kids like it but when it comes to the faculty, they just wanna get rid of us. our head principle wont let us practice at our fields for god knows what reason cuz theres two open fields, so we have to go to our middle school to play our games and practice. the thing that really sucks is that our hockey and lax teams r the best teams our school has and they still wont show us any respect. we show em whats up by just keep playin and showin our dedication.

My school gets 0.00% respect from any facualty besides a select few teachers. When the teachers hear the word lacrosse they dont think sport they think pot heads and drunks. (several very big partiers have walked through the doors of my school in the past few years) We have to purchase all of our equiptment ourselves and we dont get the fields till 8:00 at night and practice doesnt usually end till about 10:30. The worst is we have defenitly earned the respect by winning a few DIII and DII championships before and have gone pretty far in DI. Also baseball has not won even leauge for at least 10 years they got brand new batting cages and field last year. Its prob not as bad as some people have it. The main thing is I still get to play lacrosse and I have fun... right?

My school has a long tradition in lax, and most of the teachers understand and respect our the teams tradition, our school split into 2 highschools last year so there is even more at stake whenever we take the field because we have to uphold the tradition even though we have less of a player pool.

Our lacrosse program is still fairly new. Its been around for about 15 years or so. In '92 we got the chance to go to sectionals but instead they decided to go on their senior trip. So you know it wasnt taken all that seriously but it is now. Ive played lax since 4th grade and everyone thinks im good but honestly im not fast. The other day I was in woodshop and my teacher came over and said so I hear your good in lax. I got the BIGGEST SMILE and felt like a total retard and just had to say yeah I am lol. Most of our teachers dont even recognise us as good athletes and think of us as losers who couldnt make a baseball cut. I dont care though because I know were a tight group of friends and we go out there and have fun.

My first year club high school has to practice and play are games at the nearby middle school because the high school wont let us use the fields....
im in st louis and its a club sport here. None of our coaches teach at the school, so we dont have any solid connections to the school. Our athletic director hates lacrosse because of events a few years ago when our team got in a fight with a out of town team. It made alot of sh*t that he had to deal with so he has hated lacrosse ever since. Slowly we are beginning to get some things from the school, but only when it doesnt interfere with anyone else.

You guys have to realize that most schools are under severe budget restrictions and adding another sport is often just financially out of the question.
Subtracting a sport is also very difficult.
Therefore, for the forseeable future, baseball and track will have the endorsement of the schools, and lacrosse will have the athletes and the fans.
I got to a high school game that I was to officiate a bit early, and spent some time chatting with the players while we waited for the track people to finish their alloted time at the field.
One kidhad played baseball since pee wee leagues, and had switched to lacrosse that year.
'The baseball coaches are pissed". he noted. "Everybody is going out for lacrosse, and the only kids playing baseball are those kids whose parents want them to play pro."
I pointed out that a pro baseball contract was worth tens of millions of dollars, and that lacrosse couldn't even be counted on to get a college scholarship.I asked the kid if he's keep playing baseball if he was on track to get a pro contract.
"I was", he said, "but then I realized that I'd have to play baseball for the next 10 years".
No wonder the baseball coaches are aggravated..........

our school has grown to really like lacrosse. Our boys team went to state last year and this is only our 4th year with a Varsity boys team so they def. have respect. Our girls team, however, gets more **** than you could imagine, especially from some of our GUYS LACROSSE players. It's pretty dumb. I mean, I know we're not good yet because most of the girls are new this year and it's taking a lot on the coaches part to get things togethor, but one would think people would at least respect that they're trying, we're all trying. No other girls sport gets as much crap as we do.

Since I'm from Texas, football is just slightly more popular than lacrosse anyway.

lacrosse at my school almost went school-sponcored and then CIF. The football coach hates lacrosse and was the last vote to make it a sponcored sport. he thinks that it will take away from the football program. the football team went to states in 2003 so he thinks that he is the best. i hate him :argue: By time I am a senior [im a freshman now],it will be CIF.

I play in texas, so obviously football gets the glory. This year we are finally getting big crowds, no thanks to the school. They refuse to let us use the $7million stadim they built for football (even though no one is using it) unless we pay $1000 per day to rent it. But thanks to the dedication of our coaches, we have a competetive D2 team, and a growing feeder program starting with 3rd graders. Eventually, down the road, i can see our school finally embracing lacrosse.

When I was in high school, our athletic director loved football and baseball (he played on the football 1940 Boston College team that played in a bowl game). Anything that went broke in the school or locker rooms was blamed on the lax team. He was alwys yelling at us for everything and cancelled our games and practices anytime it was too wet out for the baseball team (which was around 3 times a week in April and May in Mass.). He kicked us out of our locker room after the showers flooded (not our fault), so our captain decided to at least give him a reason for being pissed at us and took shot at the lights in the gym until he broke a couple.
