I would like to start off by saying that I did search and couldn't find anything helpful (if I missed something, sorry in advance). In the fall I injured my elbow playing football and my right elbow no longer bends to full extension. I am having to readjust my game as a goalie. I have retooled my throwing style and other parts of the game. I used to be an okay goalie so I know most of the positioning, arcs etc. but I am finding that I can't reach the corners as well now. I know I need to move my feet farther but what drills can I do to practice this? I am having trouble moving my feet differently than I used to. I need some other drills that I can do to quicken my feet and practice stepping farther than I did. It's frustrating to miss shots that I could have saved if had stepped farther. Any Ideas?
-Thanks

Do more stretching, and during practice. Ask the coach if you can have the guys shoot on you, and try to hit corners.

i dont know if this is what eclipse was talking about. but i know as a goalie my stepping to the ball and my technique for ground shots is soo much better after i do the walk. and a lot of colleges and camps that i went to had me do it. basically, you walk around the edge of the field and take a step to the right and put your stick to the bottom right as if you were going to stop a ball to the bottom right. then you stand back up and do the same to the left. i do that with the other goalies up and down the field and i do better at ground shots after ive done that. if you problem is high shots then you can do the same thing just instead of pretending the ball is going to the bottom pretend its in the air. like eclipse said, repetition is key.

Maybe you should talk to someone about PT for your elbow? If you already did, then do what guys above me have posted, but if not, you should def check it out, because it's really helpful, and usually you will end up with better flexability and strength than you had before you injured it.
