for my team we all have to have black helmets (i have a white CPX), and since im really not going to go out and buy another one, my coach just said to spray paint it black. is there anything on the helmet that like has to be able to be seen, by like the refs or officials?

Officially, you need to be able to read the warning label and the NOCSAE seal for the helmet to be legal. There is also debate about whether it is legal to spraypaint a helmet; the rules don't address it specifically, but they do say it's illegal to alter protective equipment in a way that could compromise safety. Some people say spraypainting weakens the plastic.

so what ur sayin is that i shouldn't spray paint the warning labe; and the NOCSAE seal, and use appliance paint so it doesnt weaken the plastic?

That is correct, we need to see the labels. Also, I just spray painted our shutters this summer. At Lowe's I found plastic primer and paint supposedly for painting plastic. I would highly recommend primer. I've seen other painted helmets, and the paint is flaking off all over the place - primer should help it to adhere.
