My son is a freshman in high school and his school's lacrosse team is ordering helmets that match the brand and model that he already owns. The problem is that his helmet is black and the school is ordering helmets that of course match the school colors, blue and gold. I was wondering if it's possible to repaint his helmet to match the school colors, and do it so that it has a similar finish to the store bought finish, and so that the helmet itself doesn't become compromised. Has anyone here ever done this?

it seems that it is very hard to get a paint to stick to the shell. it tends to chip off and it looks bad. If the school is ordering them, they may just loan him a helmet for the season and he has to return it at the end of the year. You should ask if this is the case.

That would be a nice easy solution but unfortunately my son MUST own his helmet. I've contacted the guy at the link b-waterlax left. If that doesn't work out, I guess I'll just buy a new helmet and try to sell his black one, possible here.
Anyone need a black XS Brine Triad in very good condition (less than one season used)?

painted helmets just look bad..... and not too mention... your paint will more then likely not match the colors used by the manufacturers.. so your sons helmet will kinda stand out anyways

It's Not worth it. Sell that helmet to some one and buy a new one. Kids with painted helmets look really stupid on the field. I Have never seen a good paint job.

Besides, it has been pointed out, that painting voids any type of warrranty and NOCSAE certification, rendering it "illegal" for any kind of HS play.

Yeah, someone wrote a tutorial on it.
Find Coltlax's mask coloring tutorial that is on here somewhere. Scroll down to the bottom, and there is this one guy near the bottom of the first page who posted a link to granville lacrosse or something. It has helmet painting instructions in the website. Sorry I'm too lazy to find the link and the teacher is coming so bye.

Your son goes to CR, like as in Caesar Rodney?
