For at least just the New Jersey Highschools tryouts started Friday, March 3rd. I want to know how any you guys, in or out of Jersey, liked or disliked your tryouts. For me, I did not like the weather. Freezing cold, 2 hours friday, 5 hours sunday, and it even snowed on Friday. Tryouts were good, made the team, but when you cant feel your hands, and tryouts focus on more running than we'd like, its hard to say, "I had "fun" at tryouts." Glad i made it though. :loser:

My tryouts were decent. We had 2 hours friday, 4 hours Saturday, and 2 hours sunday. It was freezing but I held up. The tryout were for either JV Varsity or you just getting cut. Im a sophmore and i think I am pretty good. The only problem for me is that our varsity is amazing. We have 25 seniors and our coach isnt going to cut any of them. I would really like to make varsity but I know that I won't. Ill try to become a floater during the season. But I guess I can start JV this year.

Ours start tomorrow and we dont really have cuts, its mostly just jv/varsity. The first couple days though are to see if you are committed, so its a bunch of stuff you completely hate, 6 inches, sprints, up-downs, mountain climbers... so nah, not fun, but it'll be good to know when you see the people that couldn't make it through the tough parts that your on the team and they're not.

I just got finished with tryouts. 3 hours friday, and 5 each on saturday and sunday. Alot of both strong and off-handed drills, 1 on 1's to full scrimmage. We ran a mile, but not much straight conditioning. Most of our running came from game situation type drills, which there were alot of. I did much better than i expected. Granted, I've only been playing for 2 months, but I think what i showed was that I can play and that my disadvantages don't come from lack of althletiscism or talent, but from lack of game knowledge and experience.

man, 25 seniors? We have like 8, but all upper classmen were put on a team with only 40 slots total. It's annoying though because as a freshmen I am the most likely to possibly be cut, even though I know I play better than the upper classmen. (I was allowed to play D1 with them at Pedi Indoor all season) But how can I complain? You guys had longer tryouts than I did. We were only friday/saturday.

My coaches dont know alot about lacrosse, our "real" coach was given a head coaching job at Ramapo (spelling?) so practice focused on physical things, which I do well, but compared to some guys 3yrs older, are not extrordinary achievments. I really excel in skills and experience, rivaling our top seniors. We'll just have to see how the season goes. :D

I hate running in the freezing cold but the only thing I like about tryouts is for my high school I've never had to worry about tryouts because I'm like one of the best players on the team (that really isn't meant to be cocky or anything are team is just real bad) so I get to watch players compete for spots while I jsut kinda screw around.

I was trying out for La Salles team (near philly) and the tryouts just ended today. The tryouts weren't to bad, tons of running and 1 on 1, 2 on 2, etc. situations though. Unfortunaly Im not able to say that I made the team, which pretty much ruined my week. Does anybody know of any high school rec type leagues around the philly area?
