Welcome to the forums..

the best way to get into lacrosse is to search all over this forum, read posts, and read, read, read.. whatever you can get your hands on.

Yeah, sorry, copy and pasted it from a primarily english forum but nobody really knew.
My bad.

Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.

YOu're kinda lucky.. you're in a good area for lacrosse. I know sheffield university has a team, and there are many clinics and camps in the area. you're east of Manchester, north of London, and south of Liverpool, right??

try checking the English Lacrosse site

Erm, i think we're east and north of liverpool...or east and south, but either way we're only JUST north/south of it. But London is 5 hour away, Manchester 2 hour-ish, Liverpool 3 and half?...At a guess.

Thanks
Sam.

If you're just starting out, it looks pretty good. I dont know if it's overpriced because I dont know the conversion rate between dollars and pounds.

Welcome Sam! I'm glad you want to get into the sport, you are contributing to the masses who are insanley obsessed about the sport, if your not now, you will be trust me. lol. You might want to try to search sticks and there are hundreds of threads about peoples just starting to play lax. If you need to know any more just post here or if you want to you can PM me. Unlike Wheelax2, I live in Ohio, so for location Wheelax is your man! Good luck and I'm glad to help!

Cool, thanks for the welcomes!
Glad to find the first few people who replied are pretty sound...hate getting flamed when you're new to a forum!

The conversion rate is something like $1 to 85 pence something like just over a third.

I was thinking about just buying a stick and ball, throwing at the wall and borrowing the rest of the gear untill i definately want to keep playing. Sound like a good idea?

I'll search begginer sticks and everything, but i have looked my self already and thought this would be pretty good http://www.prolaxshop.co.uk/ .

Thanks alot,
Sam.

Thanks,
Sam.

:) Do you think i should practice a bit on my own then go to a club or i should go to club and ask if i can give it a try straight away? I'm leaning more towards playingaround a bit first because i don't want to look a total p*llock hehe...but i want to get playing asap lol.

Wait what? I'm confused.

LaxCrazy17
03-07-2006, 11:21 AM
Yea, you might wanna practice a bit before you get out there with guys who already know the game, probably pretty well. Wall Ball, and stick handling is a big thing to practice. After you feel more comfortable with your stick skills and stuff, get out there and give it all you got!

I'll order my stick sometime soon and a ball and enjoy myself.

Thanks alot for the help and if there is any more info on clubs near me it's much appreciated.

What exactly is squash? What kind of stick are you getting? Everyone here will tell you that getting a stick is all about preference, if you don't already know that yet. Gald I could help! :)

Mozza15

Squash...
Thinner racket than tennis, same length in the head, smaller grip/handle and lighter easier to handle frame. Small rubber ball, little bit smaller than golf ball...4 walls; one big square one at front, rectangle same width, 1/2 height of the front wall. Two walls connecting the two at the sides ( a rectangle with a right angle triangle on top to get a sloping boundry on the side. You hit the ball off any of the walls aslong as at some point it hits the front wall with out bouncing. You have one bounce before your shot. Ball has to be inside the area of the walls and above the boundry at the bottom of the front wall...Brief rulings.

Stick i was thinking of getting is a Brine Motive...link and directions to the stick are posted above by me.

Sam.
