Anyone know which of these schools has a better lacrosse team? I know Hofstra is D1 but they are ranked #17 while Salisbury is usually ranked #1 and could probably give a good deal of D1 teams a run for their money.
So my question to all of you is which of these teams is better? If you could tell me why that would be even better. Thanks much!

Because that is one of the schools I wanted to compare.

Hofstra...
I say go below top 20 and you'll get teams Salisbury might be able to beat...If you've been to a Bury game and then go to a Hofstra or Albany or Hobart game, I would think you would agree...
Besides...Roanoke who lost to StMary's gave Salisbury a run for their money...

You cant campare them unless they play each other. If you had to go with one you would go with hofstra becasue they are one of the best D1 teams in the country.

Oi, that's Ianucci alright. Guy is an absolute animal, along with Moyer and Unterstein, Hofstra is a good team. Moyer's unreal, and watch Ianucci when he hits the NLL. He'll do well there too.

Absolutely. I mean the top DIII program would give one of the weaker D1 teams a game, and Hofstra is by no means a weak D1 program.

Sals is a good d3 school but when it comes to beating hofstra there is know way. at the D1 level the calibur of athletes is much higher Hofstra is def the better team

Does anyone remember when Salisbury beat Duke in a preseason scrimmage last year? How about (sorry Xeclipse) Michhigan (club) going 4-0 in a preseason tourney with RMU (DI), Wheeling Jesuit (DII), Saint Vincent (DIII), etc? There are so many extenuating circumstances when it comes to comparisons like this. There are distinct athletic differences between a blue-chip DI recruit/ player like Ryan Boyle and a DIII star like Dan Boyer, but there are ton's of Justin Smith's and John Schlagel's (Ohio Wesleyan) from DIII schools in the MLL too. I'd say Salisbury last year, not this year though...

He got a scholarship to go to Hofstra, and maybe he's looking at Salisbury.

damn when will everyone realize...it was a scrimmage...NOT REAL...
this is partly why the quint opinion says there shouldnt even be scores at scrimmages...because people will then come up with ridiculous logic like this...

go with salisbury man. the game with hofsrta would be tight with hofstra probably eeking out the win, but why not go to a school where you can win a national championship? id go with the ring, plus the beach is 25 minutes down 50.

dont sacrifice ur future to play at a lower school, i know it sounds cheap but education should come first. salibury isnt a very reputable school academically, plus if ur getting a scholarship to hofstra, their giving u money to play for them, which will save you money, and save ur parents money (if that applys). D3 doesnt offer atheletic scholarships to my knowledge. Hofstra is a good school anyway. Yes salisbury would be sick to play at, and win a championship. My thinking leads me to believe u may play more at hofstra since salibury is so competitive. BY no means is hofstra bad, they are infact very good to my knowledge. my pick would be hofstra in a second

Pomp, go to hofstra wayyyyy better academics. But Salsbury is good, at the d3 level. Look at every sick d3 program that has gone d1. Hobart was sick at the d3 level back in the day, they won like 7 national titles or something. They went d2 and were sick there, and then d1..... AND SUCKED. There is such a difference between d1 and the other divisions its crazy, after all its called d1 for a reason.

Stegmakk, then why did Duke refuse to shake Salisbury's hands after the game? I'm sure they weren't upset after losing to a DIII team at all. Even if they are scrimmages, there still shouldn't be any excuse for Duke's performance....

Whenever you play top tier lacrosse at any level, it will be hard to crack the starting line up no matter what... just because Hoftstra isn't No. 1 in D1, doesn't mean that you'll just step on the field the first day.. most freshmen you see start in the upper levels of D3 up to D1 are ultra sick nasty, and have the maturity and field presence of upper classmen.. it's not just raw talent that gets them on the field

I am pretty sure Salisbury played Hofstra in a scrimmage at Duke in early February. Do a little research and you'll probably find out who won.

Hofstra would make them look foolish. Let me preface this by saying I am a bit biased...I played at Hofstra. Are you kidding me that you are even contemplating going to Salisbury over Hofstra? I don't know how good of a player you are, but if you think beyond lacrosse and go with the acedemic side of things, there is no comparison. If you are just worried about lacrosse, there is also no comparison. Do you want a Toyota or a Cadillac?
P.S.- Don't start with the scrimmage score arguments again. Scrimmages are not taken seriously.

I think somewhere on Laxpower forums I saw that Salisbury beat Hofstra. Its funny this comes up in this forum when in fact they actually played each other this year in a scrimmage. Now for academics, its possible Hofstra is better, I just don't know.

Haha both schools suck academically, no offense to Hofstra grads. I honestly see them playing a very close game because both schools recruit the same calibre of players. Hofstra is DI, but Salisbury recruits players who might not be as tall as DI recruits, but are outrageously nasty. Salisbury gets players who are barbarians and know how to win games.

Yes, but can a BOTTOM D1 program beat a Top D3 program? Hofstra is by no means a bottom D1 program (especially after the key Hopkins W), but a D1 over a D3 is not a lock. I doubt some of the bottom teams would beat Salisbury.

well, i went to salisbury last weekend and the campus is small and the whole school revolves around the commons(its a nice rotunda) and get free(i think) lunches w/ a card, but its in middle of nowhere eastern shore maryland and theres no cools places outside the campus except for a few restaurants...ive never been to hofstra

Alright, just got back from my ban (yay!). Thought I should get this out there. I did apply to Hofstra and Salisbury, and am leaning towards going to Hofstra. They did offer me a scholarship. It is NOT a lacrosse scholarship, it is an academic scholarship. I do not think I am skilled enough to play for either school, though maybe I'll try out on the off chance that I make the team and just become a practice player.
I asked that question because I was just curious what people thought. It is in no way affecting my decision on which school to attend. Just wanted to get this out there because there was so much drama with these two threads and I wasn't able to respond before because I was banned.
So in short...... I am the man and you should all bow down in eternal reverence to me and sacrifice gold and virginal females to me. Oh and by sacrifice I mean hand to me and then bring me rare delicacies on silver platters and call me 'Master'.

it doesnt really matter who won cause its a scrimmage
