Does anyone have any tips or special techniques for a long stick facing off? I've been messing around facing off and i'm not doing too bad so I'm going to give it a try.

If your losing, you could do this as a last resort kind of thing
Almost concede the faceoff to him, then while he is scooping use your longstick to check the ball loose
kind of risky, but if your getting beat you don't have many other options

Learn how to hit really, really hard. You'll have a difficult time beating the other guy to the ball when you've got twice the stick to deal with, so you'll have to beat him on the body.

In my JV year, I was the starting face-off man, and used my longpole. I won almost all of them too. Honestly, I used no special tricks or anything, I was just quicker then the other guys. But when you're on your feet fighting for the ball, it helps having a long pole because you'll most likely be there to check the crap of hit if he goes for that groundball. There really isn't any extra leverage or anything.
There was one move I tryed- I'd clamp onto the ball, lower my hands to the bottom of the shaft, and push my stick stright across the midfield line, and do it so that the ball is released to the middie on the other side, instead of the one that everyone would think the ball would get raked out to. Make sure your wingman knows you're going to do it.

When I did it it practice I pretty much out powered the guy but he was small. I held my stick towards the end so I had that extra leverage and just raked it out. Is this a pretty good stategy?

if u wanna do faceoff, thought of playing both short and long pole?. i know a guy who does that. whenever he wants to muck around, he goes short pole, but when he plays, he plays d most of the time.
u could do that, when ur facing off, go short, then sub and get ur long pole or sumthing

i did it once and i won so im 100% face off! lol...anyways just basically act like it's a normal face off with a short stick...i didnt really find it a big difference...but then again i dont play middie or attack that much

would it be easier to clamp, rake, or jump with a longstick? well, by that question, i mean, what move would get the biggest advantage from having a longstick doing it?

not bad...but once you go against better f/o guys you will find it is better to just stand up and check him and tie him up and let a wing guy get the ball...
that is usually the only reason to put a pole on f/o duty...
if your f/o man is consistently getting beat by theirs...
