Some say bright mesh attracts the attention of shooters.

You must be a quite conservative fellow.

ya they say bright and colored mesh makes the shooter look at it and aim there.

While I would indeed describe myself as a fiscal conservative, you would have me pegged dead wrong if you think my comment had anything to do with race. I would have said the same thing it was Schwartzmann or McMonagle. My only point was that it looks downright silly.

Interesting. Not sure I buy it, but interesting nonetheless...

Of course not, but Harry Alford is. Interesting that you would choose to throw the word hoodlum in following my question about Alford. Hmmm...

When I think of hoodlum, I think of old people yelling at neighbor children in their yard.
 THREADJACKED BY FACEITOFF haha, and yea i don't think that hoodlums has anything to do with ethnicity. Hoodlum=rascal.
And it's because its supposed to attract the shooters eye if hes taking a quick shot and disrupt his concentration. But I do agree with XEclipse too that it could just give the shooter more contrast. Tough call over all I dont think it matters either way, at that level he has some of the best players in the world shooting on him and he is one of the best goalies in teh world, he could play with a regular sized stick and still be a great goalie. so I dont think it makes much of a differance but for that level where everything counts maybe its worth it, but that is the logic behind it.

Harry's used funny colored sticks ever since his HS days at St Albans. My junior year when we scrimmaged them he had a pink head with bright yellow mesh. Senior year in the Georgetown Invi. Tournament I believe he had the neon green mesh. My dad and Harry and Tom's dad are friends, I should have my pops ask about it. But I won't.

He is an awesome player and he is really nice. My dad went to high school with coach Slafkosky so I got to meet some of the guys after the Maryland Duke game. He was polite and he was an awesome goalie.

Harry Alford is going to be the guy in the Shooting from the Hip feature in the next issue of IL Magazine (Not the one with John Walker on the cover. The one after that.) I asked him about the green mesh. He said it's just to show a little personality on the field. He mentioned his bright dye jobs in high school as well, though he said it was fuchsia, not pink. Definitely check out his Shooting from the Hip when it comes out. He's a funny guy.

Just let the boy play. Maybe it was his dream a long, long time ago about starting a discussion on a lacrosse website concerning the color of mesh he desires. Meh, what do I know?

People also speed all the time. Doesn't make it right. Brightly colored mesh MUST BE STOPPED NOW! :nono:
Please go to www.stopthebrightlycoloredmeshinsanitynow.com and donate to the cause.
Thank you. This has been a public service announcement.

He's right donchaknow. It is directly derived from a European gang name, but it came into being as an actual word in reference to soccer fans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hooligan#Origin_of_name

The first link is not Joe Walters, because of the socks and you can tell by the number( 5 ), which is Mike Phipps....and the second link is of Joe Walters and Mike Phipps in the background.
