SU player Greg Niewieroski was attacked by 4 man and assaulted as he was walking down M street, near the SU campus. He has suffered some severe facial fractures and will be undergoing surgery to repair them. Needless to say, he is lost for the season.

question is what did he do to provoke it?
we only have his mother's account and we all know how unbiased those are...
either way...hope he recovers...tough loss for an already wounded Cuse lax season

To me, violence on this level is pretty ugly. I mean 4 guys jump somone, mace them, and then beat them to a pulp...its not like he went head to head with some guy in a bar over a girl or something.
I'd guess it was premeditated, but in this age, who knows. Could have been some sort of gang initiation or something else and he was just a random victim.
I am sure the police are still trying to put together the details.

it was on the news here a couple days ago because he's from this area(watertown). i hope he's back playing soon
Do you guys really think that it was intentional, or that he was just an unfortunate random victim?

Well we were all partying in cuse after the Georgetown game. My buddy was right down the street(100 yrds tops), ran back up to help greg as he was attacked at the ATM. My buddy ran back up, jumped in the vehicle, and ounched the guys, until he was kicked in the face and has his front teeth knocked out. Sad day for us fellow Watertown people, as we were just up there for some fun, with our former teamates.

i dunno they would have to be pretty drunk to do so much damage to a player of the team they support so much

I've been on the other side of an incident like that more than once.
Meaning you jumped someone???
I might have misinterpreted that though...
That's vicious, a titanium face-plate?

No, that's just gutless. I meant that I've been in the situation where I was intoxicated and made a comment to a group of intoxicated people and it emerged into an all-out brawl. I was just saying that the cause for it might have been that he was drunk and mouthed off to a big group of people.
I was hoping you'd say something like that, because I have no respect for people who gang up on someone, no matter what the circumstances.
