Looking for a new laptop...
$300-600
256mb of RAM at least
1ghz cpu at least
Used or new...but needs warranty
40gb HDD at least
Prefferably(spelling?) 12" screen
Know where I can get something like this?

Good luck finding something that cheap, but it is possible. It will probably be really stripped down. Look for refurbs. I think overstock.com used to have cheap lappys, check there. But if I were you, which I'm not, I'd keep saving till I had about 800 to play with.

I think I might get an Acer. My sister has the Acer 17" LCD and it is a great product.

I would give it a full gig of RAM.

even if it has a full gig of ram, it;s still a 1.2mghz. Don't buy something that cheap, you get what you pay for.

keep your eyes peeled in Circuit City and Best Buymags for clearence laptops. My sister got a 14 in widescreen with 512mb and 1.5ghz for 400 or 500. Then again, it was after Christmas.
