So when your playing D, its important to Poke Poke Poke and a few Lifts in there.
Do you lift the opponents bottom hand? Where do you aim for on the lift? The top arm? Which one to do in which situations?

I have a problem with the lift check. I can never get to his bottom hand. So I usually throw controlled slap checks and if they get a step or two on me I put my stick right over there shoulder and when there stick comes back as they cradle I come down on it and its knocks the ball out almost everytime.
Ive seen what a good lift check can do, I jsut cant ever throw one. Where shouls I aim at?

Most of the time I will be poking and just throw in a lift, trying to keep it in random order so they don't have a real way of expecting it unless they are always expecting a lift. I try just to get my head right under their bottom hand and lift up, but if I can get anywhere in the area, I'm happy. And like Xeclipse said, if you are going to stop them from getting a shot off, just lift the bottom hand, because they can't shoot with one hand on the stick, and if they go for the shot right when you start the lift, you can completely throw off their form.

I use lifts whenever I see someone's bottom hand sticking out a little or when people are trying to shoot/pass. The ball comes out almost every time.

As an attackman, I would probobly say the lift isn't painful, but is by far the most annoying and usually effective check I recieve. Just restating what Eclipse said, whenever I try and untangle, I get a ward call, and I'm always trying to do that because I can't take a shot during the lift.

This is an over the head/shoulder take away check....really really bad habit!...I don't know how old you are, where you play or anything about you so I'm not trying to be rude but this check is easily avoided by an attackman/middie & the more you use it as a defender the more prone you get to letting people pass you & using this...believe me it won't keep working for long. All they have to do is cradle across their body (anyone that's been playing over a month can do this too) & you miss the check, then you've lost your momentum & they've got a one on one with the goalie...If you're getting beat it's hard to explain but basically you don't go for that stick side w/ the over-the-shoulder check what you do is keep running behind them, & hammer on the side their bottom hand is on while pushing them back...You've got 2 things going for you that you don't have with an over-the-shoulder:
1)You haven't lost any momentum you're still in the play
2)You're throwing constant slap checks or at least pressing on that bottom hand so you're preventing them from getting a good shot off
Anyways, w/ the lift..the easiest most effective way is to catch an attackmen that slides his bottom hand up the shaft a little to make it easier for them to switch hands...you'll get the ball every time hitting htat extra 3 inches hanging out the bottom, & then the other place you aim for is simply the bottom glove....exactly as they said before lifting that bottom glove will either mess up their cradle & cause the ball to fall out the back or they'll push down on your stick & get a warding penalty

yeah i love the lift. yesterday i pulled this one in practice right as this guy was a bout to pass so he threw te ball about 30 ft high. it was funny. for me. embarassing for him.
just"lift" the bottom hand as they go to shoot or throw and ull totally mess them up.
