I'm just wondering what you (college) people think are the necessities you need to be, look, and act like a college kid.
So far I have:
-a laptop: you definetly need one to do all your work.
-iPod: for walking around campus
-flip flops: who doesn't wear flip flops at college?
So basically adding to this list with descriptions would really help me out.
Thanks.
sweat pants when you wake up late for class and need something to wear..get different kinds/colors.

I believe the American term is "Mac(aroni) n Cheese" -- reminds me of the Bare Naked Ladies song "If I had $1,000,000"
"If I had $1,000,000. . . we wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner.

ANNIES puts Kraft to shame! If you haven't had Annies, you need to try it soon. It costs a little more, but being at a boarding school I can tell you that it can make a great dinner, even if you're used to mac n cheese.
List:
Computer
comfy furniture
Snacks (Chips, tostitos, popcorn) & drinks
Microwave/easy foods (Ramen, macncheese)
Pasta and sauce (NECESSITY once you get tired of the easy foods)
Little dorm toys (mini lax net, basketball net, etc)

Most of the list is food, but that's because...living on your own you get hungry a lot more often, trust me...

No Ramen noodles for me. I get an unlimited meal plan, which allows me to eat in the cafeteria (or take stuff from the cafeteria) as many times a day as I want. And trust me, this food is deliecious. Full variety for breakfast lunch and dinner. I can't wait. It will probably be better than the food I get at home, I've eaten it before and I can't wait (as I already said).

Eh. Yes and no. You pay for quality.. sometimes, at least.
Regardless, price has nothing to do with the moment. You're in a bedroom (...or, whereever..) with your partner and you go searching for a condom, you don't think "Well, I could always go buy more - they're cheap." You think, "Please let me find one, and let it be not expired."

You think, "Please let me find one, and let it be not expired."well right, but my point was that even if you spend a little more, they are still cheap enough that you could just buy new ones every once in a while. Sure, in a pinch you could use one you've been storing for a while, but why take the risk with an old condom when you could throw down a couple bucks and get new ones.

hey, everything on that list has to do with school... just not classes. classes are those things im required to go to and pass so i can just stay in school. if there's one thing i've learned about college, it's that classes are only about 10% of it.

Woohoo! Glad to see this thread resurrected as college nears ever closer!
GAMid you pretty much nailed it for the 'living' part of college. What about notebooks? Composition books or one big multi-subject notebook?
And anyone want to throw up links to cool posters?
GeorgiaMiddie2

ok.. a spiral notebook for each class, an accordian folder, 20 or so scantrons, a pen, a pencil, a highlighter. school list done.

My brother is a Phi Kap at LSU.
He gets his meal plan through the fraternity, but before he had one at the caf. He said the food was good and they have like Taci bell, etc. But most nights he went to Rasin' Canes (Canes is huge for college kids here...) after work or whatever.
Both of my brothers till keep personal food in their room. Like, my other brother goes to ULM and he loves ramen noodles with a passion. My mom bought him a freaking box of it that he keeps in his room.
Me, personally, when I go to college I'm gonna keep alot of cup ramen. And beef jerkey. And finally, MT.Dew.

Head on over to your local costco/walmart/whatever, And pick up those Ramen crates with like 500 packets for 10 bucks or however much it is, and start storing up. You'll need it. My dad told me how his roomate and him were so low on food they were forced to eat ice sandwhiches. Yes ice. Ramen owns.

yeah... don't colleges/universitys usually have bike racks and stuff like that though?
Every college I've been to and when I've walked passed bike racks; tires, seats, wheels are stolen, brake lines tortured, frame bent. So you would, if taking a bike to school, would want it in your dorm, and it takes up space.
