Now i live in Australia as most of you hopefully would have figured, as with aussielax and most people posting in the international section.
Now i was wondering which of you have been to australia or would like to come and visit/travel to australia?
And if so, what city did you visit, and did you like it?

I really would like to go to Sydney and just tour the area for a few days, also Ayers rock intrigues me. But mainly, i want to dive on the great barrier reef.

Although I have never been to OZ, I would love to visit someday. I had a teacher from Perth a long time ago and while I did not like her at all, she did speak very highly of her country and the fact that it was unlike anywhere else on Earth. It is definitely on my To Do: list.

Trust me on this one. Australia will keep and stay wonderful I am sure. Student Loans just keep getting larger and angrier over time. Feed the loan.

my father was one of the 3 assistant coaches on the USA team in 2002, so i traveled to australia with the team. we landed in melbourne from LAX, the team went right to perth, but my family minus my father went to sydney for a few days, then to cairnes, then to perth for the games... was a good time, sydney was beautiful, cairnes was nice, but downtown smelled like pee, and perth was decent...overall, was a good time.

True...but at my age with a wife...the kid discussion is happening soon :whyme:
so i was thinking why not do it before i am tied down for 18 years...
and as i said in another thread...this time im bringing back a wombat!
my only debate would be...do i go back to my favorite place in the world (daintree), or do i go to sydney and maybe some outback...there is sooo much to see and just not enough time...
any suggestions where to go from those in oz?

My Dad loves Australia, went several times as a member of the US Navy Band and the Israel Philharmonic. Unfortunately I am in no such position as like Stegs, I am feeding that angry beast of a student loan (it never seems to get full). One of these days I'll have money either via lotto or becoming a kept man (which right now seems like a nice financial goal) and then I'll get there, and when I do, I will aprhenend several koalas for "study" and by study I mean to pet them.

Uhhh... Tasmania has great forests and is good for just camping out every night. Except for the Mozzies.
I hated Sydney so much. I thought it was one of the most over rated places ever. Its just boring. I went to the Opra House, and there must have been about 10 homeless guys hanging around.
If your going to the ACT only spend one day, there is nothing there. NOTHING!
Oh, Merimbula is good on the NSW coast. Nice beachy place. Has a huge theme park too....
Oh yeah... Theme parks. Gold Coast! Movie World, Wet and Wild, Dreamworld Underwater world... and who can forget the big Pineapple and Big banana.

Perth was good. Kinda big and bare, but was still good. Nice weather... Except for that day when it just poured...
NT is a hole, so ive heard. I wont go into detail cause its kinda racist.
Victoria is great for shopping... Lacrosse is at its biggest too. Vic has good beaches, but they are cold compared to the Gold Coast.
I might write some more after I try on those Burns at Auslax...

I went a year ago today actually(Or around the March 20's). Went to Melbourne and what a beautiful place it is. And they are crazy about aussie rules in Melbourne, no mistake either. Managed to see two games and it's the second best sport in my book.
Most of the time I did tourist stuff, Zoo, Bells, Wildlife centers, Footie games, Market, other stuff.
And besides that I was swiming or hanging out at the bay.

Yeah, If you go to Melbourne go to the Footy. Its crazy fun.
So is the cricket... But the cricket is more a reason to get smashed and have a good time rather than support your team...

I was at that game when Bay 13 went nuts. Best time ever! Warnie had to come out to try and get everyone to stop throwing stuff on the ground....
Good times....

Heh, we didn't have enough time to catch a cricket match.
I did however manage to see a aussie lax game. I forget the team but it was a repeat of the previous years Finals. And I think it was close to the first of the season.

Yeah, Tassie is a beautiful place, great for hiking, Port Arthur ghost tours pretty cool as well.

I loved Sydney, there is plenty to see do. It is over-rated in the fact that everybody thinks australia=sydney or that sydney is the capital (IT IS NOT), but its still a good place to visit with heaps of things to do.
homeless guys? have you ever been to Flinders st station in melbourne, theres hobos there. I've never seen homeless guys around the opera house, are you sure you went to the right one, the big white pointy one by the harbour?

nothing?
Canberra has the war memorial (amazing place), old parliament house, new parliament house, some great views of the nations capital from the surrounding mountains (and telstra tower. The War memorial alone takes a day just to see a tiny portion of it.
The ACT is not the most exciting of places, but there are some good things to see.
