Can anybody help clarify "the jump" drill that Duke runs? I understand the clearing for either a fast break or slow break, but then when action is done on that side of the field it goes like "then they clear down the field for a 5 on 5". . . and here is where I get confused.

On that end of the field, there are 3 attackmen and 3 defensemen. . . which 2 middies and 2 defensemen break downfield (from the now dead slow or fast break) for the 5 on 5? Or do 2 totally different players jump in?

Any help would be great, as this would definetly be a great drill to run.

After the 5 on 4 at one end -- whether the goalie a makes save, a goal is scored, or the ball goes out of bounds -- a new middie receives a clearing pass and the three guys from the 5 on 4 run to the other end for the 5 on 5. Sorry that wasn't more clear in the article. It is a cool drill though.
