Put some coins in? How do you keep them stable--prevent them from rattling and shifting weight? I've heard of sand, but I don't know how coins would work.

you keep them stedy by puting quaters in until it fills the whole stick and then put the end cap on or you could deal with a little rattling but never heard sand before but heard of alot of tape and mean lots of it!

Practice more, you don't really need any new methods just throw and shoot more.

Get a bucket of balls and shoot until your arms fall off, shoot every day and you could even fill a stick(not your game stick) with sand to increase your shot speed even more. My shot speed increased a lot after I bought an al6000, filled it with sand and practiced shooting every day.

um.. practice wall ball with just one hand.. it'll force you to use proper form.. once you develop proper form, you'll see an increase in shot speed..

One hand? Surely you'll develop worse habits from practising one handed.

Lol, I'd also like to find out the cost of filling a stick with quaters. that must be well over 40 bucks.

Sand is a good idea though. And lots and lots of shooting.

Not to mention how much money in quarters it would be to fill a d-pole. :imparied:

Wall ball, wall ball, wall ball. Grab a friend and toss with him. You live in Florida, there should be no reason someone doesn't want to go outside and have a catch.

i know this is counter productive, but all the kids that ive talked to that are really good players and dirty with both hands tell me dont practice shooting lefty that much b/c if ur bad what are u gonna work on, u need somewhere to start, i dont know about u but i learned to pass and catch with my right before shooting, than my shot developed. alot of older players tell me to play lefty wall ball non stop, the more comfortable you are with ur left they less unnatural the motion of shooting left becomes, a shot is a really hard and accurate pass if u think about it

yeah bobeo lol, practice constantly, for cradling dont just cradle but do shot fake, overhand, underhand ,behind the back, sidearm, learn tricks this greatly helps the coordination with your left hand(go to mikeypowell.com to get some trick ideas), as for shooting go all day in practice left handed, youll screw up alot but itll help its learn or die, when your at home grab a hackey sac/someting like that and throw it into a empty bin, heres what i do i take a storage bin and put it on a chair then stand at different distances and shoot it in, another thing you can do is tape a pice of paper on the wall stand to feet away from it at throw the hackey at it , if you hit the target take a stride back and reapeat, if you miss you go back to the begining(this sucks especially when your twenty paces back an you miss the paper!)this really developes your opposite hand skills quickly, but overall just always be messin around with the stick

this is correct, my friends dad is a coach and he was just teaching me this method, try it out for a week and u will see improvements soon

Make a commitment to only use your left for a week or so. Even after a week of playing catch or shooting or wallball with only your left, you will feel a huge difference. Also, utilizing your off hand in daily chores helps to improve your motor skills with that hand. For instance, brushing teeth, shaving, etc...

i put sand in my shaft.. get no rattling and its heavier than any weighted stick your gonna find

I suggest a weighted shaft. I've also found that just going through the motion helps, that way you make sure you get your form down first and get a feel for what you shot form should feel like once you take live shots.

Then take every left you see in here and change it to right.

Take a video of yourself throwing righty, and either invert it or just watch it and try to mimic it. I've just been shooting and just noticing what my hands are doing, and I'm already shooting better righty. If I took a video I'm sure I'd do even better.

and Yay for natural lefties

One way is pretty tiring and long but easy, i did it last night: all u do is practice the shooting motion with ur off hand wit out a ball just like in ur house and do it for a LONG TIME. i learned this at a baseball camp once, if u do a certain motion about 8,000 times, u will get muscle memory and ur muscles will do it naturally. If u think about it, 8,000 times isn't that much. but make sure u do the CORRECT form 8,000 times. Just act like ur shooting and just keep repeating it.

quoted for EMPHASIS!!

I reiterate this to the young guys I know until I'm blue in the face, not only will it help shot speed but also accuracy... and if you want to play college ball its all about accuracy.

When u practice with one hand you just use your top hand(closest to the throat) correct?

yeah, but you place your hand right about where it would be if you had two hands on it.. so you place your hand about 13 or so inches above the butt end..

Get a tennis ball and fill it with coins and practice shooting
