View Full Version : Shanahan's Picks?

Has anyone seen the picks Brian Shanahan made in the recent IL? When did Cam Bergman become the best transitional player in the NLL? Maybe someone better tell at least ten other guys that Bergman is better than they are. Or Glen Clark the best defender in the east? Are you kidding me! I don't think Clark has even been the best defender on his team let alone the entire eastern division. Taylor Wray on his first team mid season! Wray's been having a horrible year. No mention of Sean Greenhalgh as a rookie of the year pick!

Someone better tell Shanahan that there's more lacrosse than just the games he covers for Sportsnet. I am floored though that it wasn't made up of just Rock players.

Best line in his team recaps though, saying Lindsay Plunkett has helped Buffalo's offense and power play! Wonder if anyone told Kilgour that!

Hooligan, get your butt in there and start writing for them. I always appreciate a good laugh here and there, but wouldn't mind some serious coverage as well.

wow, you either have too much time on your hands or a bad social luife, it seems like every 2 weeks you make a new thread critisizing IL.

IL is terrible unless you're an NCAA fan. If they're not going to spend the time required to cover the NLL properly, they might as well just quit.

Tasty is quite right on this issue, especially with respect to Cam Bergman. Bergman's a good player, but quite honestly, you'd have to be an idiot to rank him a better transition player than Steehuis, Toll, or a number of others. Shanny must have played a few games without a helmet.

I love it when some 26 year old thinks that he must be right because he disgree's with the opinions of a five-time Mann cup winner and long-time box lacrosse analyst. There is more to being a good player then numbers. I also notice both your picks are hyped up. There are more than 6 players per team eh?

Well, Lindsay Plunkett had a great game against Philly, and certainly helped the Sting's cause against the Wings. If thats worth anything...at least I got the team's name right.

Here's a link to my most recent article. Hope that helps you're NLL fix... :chuckle:

Just becasue someone won a Mann Cup while riding the sweaters of guys like Tavares, etc... doesn't mean he knows what he's talking about like 20 years later (and by the way, he has Tavares as MVP during a year there is no way he will win it). I have seen both Wray and Clark play numerous times on live tv and on internet feeds on B2, my opinions are based on actually watching these guys play and not looking at their stats. I have also seen enough of Cam Bergman to know he's a good player but far form one of the best transition players in the league, it's obvious he's making his opinon of Bergman based on that game he played against Calgary which interestingly enough he commentated on. But hey, I guess is Shanahan told you Troy Bonterre was going to win the scoring title you'd have to believe him since he won five Mann Cups back in the day.

Who are both my picks? I didn't pick anyone. Or if you mean the picks made by a completely different borad member two posts down from mine, then I guess you barely pay attention to what you read, which is why you probably have such a big crush on Shanahan's work (let me guess, you only look at the pictures, right?)

I guess if people just took everything journalists and commentators read as gospel like yourself, then media coverage of any sport would be pretty boring. Sorry for having an opinion on what I consider poor coverage of a sport I love.

I KNOW EH!, how dare he talk about lacrosse where his only accomplishments are :winning the mann five times, having a son win a founders, and then have a daughter get a scolarship to a division 1 ncaa shool! Yet, he knows absolutley nothing about the sport! What a fraud going around giving his input with only 30some years of lacrosse experience and knowledge. like i just cant see how your the only the one to call him out in his 20 yrs as an anylisis!

oh and please bless with your knowledge all mkight tasteycakes and share your amazingly right picks.

You know, laxgoalie makes some interssting points there. You must be right tastycakes, why don't we just stop right now from expressing our opinions because there's no way someone like YOU can be wrong!

But if it's not to much trouble, can we see that fistful of rings YOU have?

Alright guys, this is getting out of hand. The man expresses his opinion that Shannahan isn't doing a stellar job, and LaxPimp and LGK are being combative back. You may not like Tasty's opinion, but there is no reason for this kind of sarcasm back. Ease up, because this isn't the NLL forum way. You guys don't want this place slipping into some of the childish crap that goes on in the rest of the forum...

Take some time to think out your next posts in this thread, or it will be shut down, and the offending parties will be warned.

So anything somone that has won multiple Mann Cups says needs to be right? Don't think so. Would have been great if people could have shared their opinions of mid seasons picks, read the article in question and commentated but guess that would have been too hard. No chance either of you two Shanny fans would be interested in defending some of his picks? So lets get Neil Doddridge on the tv and in IL since he's has the most rings. People with Mann Cup rings and kids that play lacrosse always make great writers and commentators and no one should question it!

What does having a daughter playing NCAA lacrosse have to do with his knowledge on the NLL? Nothing you said coerlates with his knowledge of the NLL or the players in question.

Its locked. Be the bigger man, and walk away. We all need a timeout here. None of you post for 2 hours. Walk away from your computers, watch some TV, go outside and toss at a wall, and come back and you'll all feel better.

In other words...ITS OVER!
