mine is the armadillo...i learned it in a game against utah for u-15 a boy on thier team did it however it wasnt successful but it looked sweet and is only a move to use when you are farr ahead of your opponent..or when your opponent is beating you so bad you have lost all hope of winning and just want to have fun... what you do is you clamp the ball and then do a handstand then continue roling over till you are on your feet so it is like a cartwheel

i thought the armadillo was when u did a handstand during your clamp?
i have a few moves, w/ the pole...
1. Forget about the ball and drive through the kid, turn w/ your back to him and scoop the ball (long pole helps there if you get far enough off the ball)
2. Clamp, slide the stick down the line out of pressure and scoop away
3. Grab the kids stick, lift, kick the ball out (my favorite, gets the kids who love their fancy moves soo ticked cause they can't do anything if your grab their stick)... i know its illegal but i have it down, never have gotten caught
4. let the kid get on the inside of you (so he tries to box you out) and lift the but of his stick until he has to let go.. tough cause you give him the advantage
5. Hop the head over the ball and pull it away from the x...
6. take the end of the pole and swing it around slapping the other kid in the back of the legs (doesnt help you get the ball but you can knock him off balance then get the ball)...also illegal, haha
...do any of these moves mentioned above have names? or does anyone want to help to make up some...
peace

1. i clamp, then spin my body so i'm boxing him out, while spinning i ***** slap with my butt-end.
2. bulldozer him, only use it if you have fast wingers.
3. the summersault!!!!!! self explanitory. thats my move i use in scrimmages
4. slap in him the face with the head, then sweep it to the wing wit ur shaft or foot

the armadillo is a waste of time is my opinion
the only time you would do it is if the team you are versing are so bad that the face-off guys cant even clamp

when u have the clamp whats the easy-ist thing to do OTHER than
raking it out to yourself or your middies....
Fogo 8
11-30-2003, 10:46 AM
i usually try to rake it out to middie but it usually goes not far enough so i get it myself so i go with how far the rake went

I know it's cheap, but hey if you ain't cheatin you ain't trying.
I try to talk to the guy that I am facing off against before approaching the ball. I talk about anything...how my jock is riding up on me or something off the wall. Sometimes I tell him exactly what I am going to do. It seems to just plain mess with their head, makes them loose their focus on the face-off.
After that it's a clamp, rake or push depending on how the guy sets up at the x.

what's the move called when you clamp, then rotate your wrist another 90 degress while pinching, then flip it up in the air?
Also, i'm nots ure if anyone mentioned this, but after you clamp, you rake it back towards yourself, then flip your wrist and send it right by him for an easy pickup.

Before you blow ur load and start calling people noobs maybe you should know what you're talking about. The NCAA DID make a rule this year banning the plunger, then they went on to define what they meant by "the plunger". My coaches warned us at the beginning of the year that the move was banned this year. One of my opponents this year tried the move against me and was called for it.
Here is the rule book, Go to page 34:
http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/2004/2004_m_lacrosse_rules.pdf
Here is the NCAA newsleter that defines rule changes for this year:
http://www.ncloa.com/pdf/Rules_Memo_1_1-27-041.pdf
From the NCAA rule book.
Rule 4-3 A.R. 11. On a faceoff, or any other time during the game, A2 clamps the ball and the
ball becomes stuck in his crosse so that the ball is withheld from play. RULING:
Immediate whistle, award ball to Team B.
Definition of the rule stated in an NCAA newsletter send earlier this year:
Page 34. 4-3 AR 11. “…ball becomes stuck in crosse…”This covers the “Plunger”move on the face-off.
I'm not saying that this will apply to whatever high school league you might be in, I only know that they made the change for college NCAA sanctioned lacrosse.
You had the two ideas mixed up in your post above. This year the plunger is banned. Also, this season they DO NOT do stick checks before faces. Please control yourself, especially when your information is not correct. It's outbursts like yours that turn good information message boards into places where people just ***** at each other and perform immature acts like calling each other names.

Can anyone explain the "jam" to me? i keep hearing about it but don't know how to do it. Also, in this explanation of the plunger :
You clamp down bend the head around the ball then pulll it straight up in the air
what does it mean to "bend the head around the ball..."
also, explanations of any of ur guys's moves would be good.

put some weight on the head so the sidewalls pinch together and "grab" the ball

any one kno any ways to practice faceoff?
GeorgiaMiddie2
11-08-2004, 11:42 PM
the best way, is just to practice with a friend or two. but if you cant do that, et up next to a wall, shine a light behind you and try to beat your shadow. also, just practice new and different moves in your spare time. try and get quick at em.
i've been playing lacrosse for about 2 years now in highschool. i play center mid and center d. i find that if you are a pretty hefty kid you withstand a good take the hit face off. instead of having the normal hand stance on the stick have both hands together and ontop of the stick. make sure your hands are between your feet that are squared up so you are making a triange with your body. now what you have to is put all your weight on the ball once you enter the clamp and just sit there and let the guy try to hit you. after a few seconds you will still be in postition and the opponent will be not only tired but out of position which will then allow you to sweep the ball. the key to the whole move though is being able to let the guy hit you and not let yourself be put off balance. cheers
