Hey guys just lookin for a little advice, when stringing your goalie head, should your stretch out the mesh piece first before you start stringing, and i got trad. hard mesh from jimalax, should i make the sidewalls tight or leave them loose, any other tips are appreciated(sp?).

Xeclipse said it perfectly, but I use conditioner instead of shaving cream. Also with trad hard mesh I usually string it with open sidewalls.

do you connect the mesh to the sidewall of do you have a thin strip of mesh down the middle?

Except that's 20d...not 17d.
100% correct.
Closed sidewalls is the onlyway to go with 17d unless you like rebounding the ball alot.

alot depends on the head your stringing, with an eclipse, i would not do closed sidewall, but with a sentinal, i would definatley do closed

i havent done this for one of my sticks but i had to string the jv goalies stick a couple weeks ago, mesh was dyed{very stupid] so it tookme a long time to break it in so finnayll i just strung it up. But then i filled up my bath tub with very warm water i soaked the stick in there for 15 min then i took it out leaned against the sink and put a boling ball in it it stretched out pretty good.

What are the advantages of 20d, 14d, 12d, or 10d over the traditional 17d mesh? I know the diamonds are bigger on some of them, so I imagine it has less air resistance and may break in faster, but is there any playability advantage?

go to jimalax's site and click on each kind of goalie mesh, and it gives you little descriptions of what the types do, like pocket and throwing and what not.

Also, for the convenience of people who want the same thing you do. I made a thread entitled "mesh descriptions"
