View Full Version : Stringing 12D in a goalie pocket (Eclipse)

When you 12D experts out there string your topstring in, say, an Eclipse, do you skip any diamonds at the top of the mesh, or do you string every diamond (i.e. stretch the mesh so that each diamond is strung to a hole in the head)? I could definitely see how stringing each diamond would make sense to do because it keeps the top of the mesh much tighter, but what do you then do with the left-over, bunched-up diamonds on the ends? Do you cut them off?

i have 12d in my eclipse and i have pictures of it up. I put it through every hole, but don't take advice from me people said the top was sloppy which i agree but i like how it throws and don't want to change it. http://community.webshots.com/album/548856851VdaugO there is the link and pocket has since been worked on.

Thanks for the pic. It looks fine to me, although you did skip a diamond on one side. I'm just wondering if stringing every diamond makes the mesh that much tighter at the top, or if it doesn't make that much difference.

wow i just noticed i skipped one. to answer your question i don't think it makes much of a difference? i am assuming this is your first 12d stick or your just not used to stringing one. when i strung this one i just layed the mesh in there and just put the string through. Not thinking to do every one or every other one. i don't think it makes a difference.

Well, I've strung two Eclipses with it so far with it, and I've been pretty happy for a while, but I notice as the mesh gets a bit more broken in, the whip increases a tad. On both, I skipped a diamond or two along the top string, and now I'm wondering if I should have.

well if you have done 2 with skipping try doing it without skipping and see. I don't really remeber because this is the first time i have had 12d in my stick since i was in 10th grade now im a freshman in college and don't play anymore do to there is not team. So i dont even remember the last 12d stick i strung before this one. sorry.

I always string every one, but for some of the diamonds I do two diamonds to one hole. For the ones you would skip do one side of the topstring knot in the one you skip and one on the one you wouldn't skip. You probably didn't understand that. I'll see if I can get any pics.

I think I know exactly what you mean...maybe I'll give this week before my next game.
