i am a box goalie and for the first time i am going onto the field and playing goaltender. Is there a difference between a box goalie stick and a field goalie stick. What modifications can i make to my box stick to make it better suited for the field?

Same stick, you may have been using an attack shaft in box, I'd switch to a goalie shaft if you were; it's for better clearing.

The plastic ones are typically the same.

There are a few that are legal for box but not field (i.e. Warrior's Big Nasty, which is a piece of junk anyway).

I actually play both box and field, but I use different sticks for both games. In box, I use a Mohawk wood stick, with a second Mohawk and a Patterson as backups. In field, I switched to the Brine Money since my Nemesis broke.

What I look for in regards to sticks in both games would be completely different. In box, I look for size, stiffness, and stability. In field, I go for light weight and quick release.

BTW, what stick do you use, and what pocket do you have in it? I could answer your question easier this way.

i use a Gait Web stick. as for the pocket i use the exact mesh and shooting strings as it came with. I am more concerned about the length of the shaft. should i switch the head onto a player shaft. i figure smaller shaft, quicker movement

thanks alot stonewall35

I personally like to keep shaft length consistent on all my sticks, be it a wood or plastic goalie stick. However, I tape knobs about 10.5" away from the throat on the shaft of my plastic sticks. This is my reference as to where I put my stick hand in my stance.
