Alright so here's the deal. I strung My razer pro with a high pita pocket and the end result was fantastic (the holy grail (http://community.webshots.com/album/547955834ukVupC/1)). But over time I had to make some light adjustments. I ended up using a nylon inplace of what used to be the shooter nearest to the lip. This made it perfect and I mean perfect. I'd throw the ball up and down one handed and feel absolutely nothing. But even there, to keep it perfect I had to continue the painstaking adjusment routine.
But then I played around with the rest of the pocket and one thing let to another and now I'm back to a head that throws the ball on the ground on some of my harder shots.
I spend at least 12 hours adjusting this thing!!!! Lets just say i'm not thrilled at all. But I'm willing to poor in more time & effort if I could ever get that perfect pocket back again.
In Short I want to find a final solution to this whip problem.
Give me all the helpful tips you can think of.
Or Post pictures of your succesful pita pocket... (esp. concerned with the lip area)
EDIT: okay I have no problem with whip its lip thats the issue!!!!

first of all high pockets are bad if ur lookin for no whip. You should string a low pocket. Then string gradually tighter shooting strings toward the top.

Alright, well I'l like to keep the high pocket... I'm not really worried about whip its lip that's the real issue. when I through the ball rolls on the thick shooters near the top. I feel like sandpapering them down but that would break them. Thats really my whole problem. placing nylons across does prevent it but... is there a really ideal way to fix it (create a smooth release).

Yeah I no... Thing is I don't consider a high pocket to have whip. I've just been so accustomed to it. When I lend my stick to friends they through low. I mean lip. like the ball will bang on the edge before releasing.

Here is my pocket. Tons of whip and no lip. I have used it for a 3-4 months and I haven't needed to adjust it once. It looks bad from all the rain games I have used it in(almost every game).

I like my pocktet a bit higher gigo567. Thanks for the pic however it isn't much different from mine. I see how it would throw well on your though.
I don't know maybe I'm asking too much. I could continue to play with it and have it work its just really annoying.
I think I've figured it out. I'll try this: http://www.lax.com/shop/item.phtml?page=product_5451_front.phtml
Stringing it right now.... My finger tips are burning!

I had a Pita in 7th grade and it had tremendous lip. What you have to do is tighen the two tied off ends of the crosslace at the top. See if that works...

I also had a problem with lip but it somehow magicly went away so I haven't dared screw with my pocket.

If you dont like readjusting your nylon at the top, fix it perfectly. nylon knots melt just like the rest of the nylon, so heat up your knot just a little bit and it will never really need to be adjusted
but, it better be perfect. you dont get a second chance.

dude the thing is that some heads have biggere lips that stick out more like the razor and matrix you just gotta fine a stick with a lip that sticks up not out then ur problem is solved

also as long as it hits the lip the same everytime it shouldnt be a problem but if its bouncing off in funky directions then u gotta do somthing about it

Yeah I have the bouncing off the lip problem. I restrung it the lax.com way meaning I had to restart the twist from scratch and the end result sucked!!! I'm thinking of buying a second razer pro twisti style just to see how the heck they do it (except I bet there won't be much of a pocket and neither will it be high). I was so pissed I restrung my evo pro with mesh. As for your suggestion Orange, I'm not sure which crosslace your talking about. But even if I tighten it the problem is the curve from the pocket will not be aligned with the curve on the lip and so will it the tip of the lip istead of the inside edge. Meaning I have to keep it loose while ridding it of whip. talk about tough. I want it to follow the same curve except without lip. (Get it?) If that mean having to try a traditional pocket I'm up to it.

just a thought...and this is all theoretical...try sanding down where the lip is on the stick so that it comes in line with the pocket

for one if you sand down any part of the head the head will be illegal since you can't alter it in anyway. it's illegal to pinch your head for field lax but since there is no way a ref can prove that a stick was baked or boiled they just assume that it is from some sort of natural warping. two if you want a head that the ball has no possible way of getting stuck behind the lip would be a proton or proton power. I mean of course it is possible but the scoop design of most stx heads makes it less likely.......But in my opinion pita's eventually just stretch out too far and throw down unless you keep the pocket tight which in turn you sacrifice hold...which is one of the reasons I gave up on them and switched to mesh on a perminant basis

I think you are confused. Having a high pocket creates whip. You keep mentioning lip. Lip is when the ball ricochets off the scoop of the head because of a poorly strung head. This alters the trajectory of the ball. Lip is not when the ball bounces against shooting strings, typically that holding feeling is what is referred to as whip.
It sounds like you want to have a high pocket with no whip.
