So, like this thread's predecessor, I ask: who do YOU think the best team in Canadian Jr.B lax will be this year. I'm from the East, so I think:

1.Clarington Green Gaels: My favourite team all-around, it's an even year and you all know what that means for the Gaels...

2.Elora Mohawks:Defending champs of 2005 and runner-up in 2004, look out for these kids.

3.Awkwesasne Lightning:The team that downed the Gaels last year, theyll be looking for vengeance after that whle incident with Weebz's jersey last year in the semi's.

Go for it kids, tell me who's gonna take it all.

I think we're going to see some action from the Oakville Buzz. They lost a close series against the Mohawks.

For alberta i think we will see it this way

1. Warriors- lost some guys to the new jr. a team but the coach picked a young squad last year and still have the core of there defense and some very strong o players And are defending champs.

2. Calgary Chill- Haven't heard to much about them but based on last year they were a very solid team and will probly rule over all the other calgary teams.

3. Spruce Grove Crude- Have almost there entire returning team and the league has been watered down a bit so they are going to have the oldest average age and good experiance plus they have a new coach who will acyuallymake them practice.

I've gotta agree with laxgoalieking and laxpimp, Gaels are gonna win it all this year because its an even year.

Oakville may also make some noise this year, but i'm still saying the gaels are gonna win.

Its too early to tell. Not everyone's seen all the teams yet. And the teams we've seen have been preliminary rosters.

Mimico won't win, they gaels played them, and blew them out last year, so they may beat everyone else, but eventually they'll meet up with the gaels, and when they do........

Why Mimico? We've played them twice and I didnt find them to be anything special. They have no overly impressive shooters either.

oakville win win..... just checking out some scores, and they have blown away everyone so far.

They have only played milton twice and huntsville. Not the best teams in the league, Milton is in there expansion year with all rooks, and huntsville has never been that solid. Wait till they play a better team before making assumptions, I'm not saying they WONT win it all but wait till they play a better team than those 2 before saying they are going to win founders.

everyone is saying that gaels will win, but they only beat huntsville 9-6. oakville beat them 18-2 i think

Ah, the Gaels don't like to beat on Huntsville too often, it's not cool and it doens't prove anything.

And besides, they had only had one practice as a team the night before, and they were up 5-0 after one period (then they started running plays)

The Akwas Lightning team may not reach that level thought of them as are losing to many of there best players to junior A Ottawa...:)

really its no acheivement, AKO is a horrible team, and the other teams are just bad, like midget D bad. this tourney proves tehre is a neeed for a lower tourney like jr.C where the est cost and sasktachewan and quebec can send teams.

Huntsville all the way. Remember they beat both the Geals and the lightning last season.

How many players is Huntsville losing this year? That will tell the tale about how they do in '07. Great coaching staff though - keep those guys around and you will develop a great team too.

ui never undertsood how bc and ontario only get to send one ( and a host if they are the hots) and alberta gets to send half their league.

#15Roadies
01-07-2007, 12:03 AM
The Founders is an invitational tournament, like minor tournaments. Ontario could send half their league if they wanted to pay for it too, but there is no point. So they limit themselves to sending the league champ in non-Ontario host years and sending the league champ & host in Ontatio host years...

While it is an Invatational, the host does have some say as to who is able to attend. We have confirmed this through the CLA. We have formally decided that this will be a 10-team Championship. We are currently 'holding' spots for a better breakdown of representation througout the country. I can tell you right now that unless we are in really dire needs looking to fill spots due to cancellations, 5 Alberta teams will NOT be attending the Founders Cup.

As game director for this years Founders, here is the breakdown we are striving for:

1 - host (Kamloops)
1 - Maritime (hopefully an all-star or Provincial winner)
1 - Quebec (same as Maritime, all-star or Prov. winner)
1 - Ontario (Ontario always sends their Provincial winner)
4 - West (Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta - further segregated to one from each province with a fourth from any province; again Provincial winner/participant)
2 - BC (Provincial winner/participant)

Obviously, this is the ideal situation and we will hold spots to allow this format as much as possible. As we get closer and we realize that teams will not be coming from 'secured' spots, then we will open up as per usual Founders acceptance. Some might not agree but with the rumblings I have heard of trying to make this an actual National Championship by 2009, going this route will allow for a more balanced and hopefully better and quality national representation. But being a realist as well, it does come down to one thing...money. Wanting to attend and being able to attend are two different things.

In all reality AKO won their games to make it to the finals. A little harsh to say that they were horrible. Bottom line they were outplayed! The better of the 2 teams won.
