View Full Version : Some help with a Shamrock Rock

I picked up this head for a real good price and thought I might have some fun with it as a 3rd stick to try some stringing techniques. I was told that it is the Shamrock 'Rock' and that it is no longer in production; also that it was replaced by the 'Assasin'. Can anybody tell me what the purpose is of the two little flaps with holes that stick out into the channel? :WTF:

they were desinged to give you a narrow pocket or a "pinched" feel

I used this stick my freshman year of college, and overall it wasn't too bad.. it was quite a long head, and had some inconsistent tendencies around the scoop area

How much did it cost, it looks like a poor mans matrix.

Some help with a Shamrock Rock??

Fire, lots of it!

Seriously, it's a bit long, and a bit goofy looking, but it is functional, and if cheap, a great trial head for dying/stringing. Have fun!

Head cost $15 and came strung (poorly I may add). But I decided to take the grinder to the little flaps and pinch it. I have to agree that it is a little long though.

I have never liked anything in the Shamrock line. Never thought they really compared with the other companies. I think they do work with Ridell which is a plus but still far off the pace as far as I am concerned.

The top string was the first thing I took out before taking the grinder to the little flaps. I received it already strung as is (by someone who has more than likely never strung anything more complicated than a shoe).

why would you grind off the flaps its the best part of the head. They're for ball retention so its like you have a pinched stick but it's still legal. Since you're candian you should have kept those on and pinched it and then the ball would pretty much not be able to pop out but you'd still have a wider head for catching easier

I got one of those too, also for fifteen bucks and also stung poorly. There is not even the same number of sidewall holes on each side on mine.

yeah.. can't remember why, but the shamrock guy said it had something to do with how u string or something.. I was like.. "um.. ok"

but overall, it was a good head for me.. the only complaint I had was that it was long, and the top/scoop of the head often deflected passes, and it was hard to do an indian pick up.. (kinda like the scoop of the blade)
