Ok I had a rainy game on Monday and I was forced to use my mesh stick. It had no hold. I was mad because I had no goals because of this and it resulted in me playing very poorly. My question is that if we have to play in the rain will water repellent for shoes work in a traditional pocket?

if you have extra materials anywhere, try spraying the stuff on them, and running/dripping water on them to see if it repels or not.

idk, i've been wondering the same thing. On a different but related topic, I wonder if you can use fabric softener on shooting strings and mesh?

i say try what the worst that can happen, ruin a piece of mesh,

or its raining out and the repelent you put on the mesh turns out to be flammable, then out of nowhere your lightning rod/stick gets struck, the pocket goes up in flames and you catch on fire, luckily the rain helped to put the fire out and you only end up with 2nd degree burns.

yeah i had a rainy game on monday also. I wasn't expecting it so i had my good stick. It really screwed up our whole team and the next day we looked like a bunch of retards. What i did was put a ball and butter knife in there after my game.

ever think of stringing all your sticks the same like the same amount of hold/ throwing the same? its not hard to string a mesh pocket with hold. and who cares if you play with your trad in the rain just wash it off after the game and ball and knife it. problem solved.

I would but the leathers will stretch and the stick will be illegal.

I will try to put the stuff on the pocket. I don't think it will be that bad. It might not even rain during the game though. I think its just gonna rain before. O well

O yeah and Jersey Attack what team do you play for?

i heard olive oil or vegetable oil worked to repel water on leather. and i too had a rainy game last monday i was forced to use mesh i had to redo my sidewalls.

Ok I finnaly was able to try out my idea today.

It worked great. I think that the pocket sagged an 1/8th of an inch. It barely affected the pocket at all. The rain was coming down very hard and it didn't affect the pocket. I was happy.

We won 3-0 to some private school who thought they were all that.

i was on the island and we were playing in the rain on muddie feilds and their was this guy that was using trad in the game
i talded to him after
about how it holds up
he said if you get is wet and muddie then play wall ball till it dries
like 3 times

the rain and mud will not effect the pocket whatsoever

just string a somewhat shallow hard mesh pocket on a wide head with three straight shooters, and you can never go wong

keep it simple

.. for rain that is. for regular games you should have a high pocket with soft mesh with 9 shooters and loose sidewalls on an extremely pinched head
