Lower New England Nationals

I was wondering if anyone on here ever tried out for the LNE nationals? Tryouts are the 23rd and I'm a little nervous. It says there will be a timed run...is that like a few miles? or like a sprint? Thanks :)

I tried out last year. Who do you play for?

Tryouts are pretty intense, I'm not going to lie. Get a good nights sleep and eat a good dinner and breakfast. Bring some powerbars and gatorade - whatever you eat to keep your energy going.

Last year they split us up into squads that we pretty much played with all day. It's important to try and get to know the girls names that you play with because it will help on the field. One of the biggest things I would say the coaches are looking for is hustle. Go after every ground ball, don't play loose defense and definitley communicate, just play hard. At the same time, don't be a ball hog cause they def don't look for that.

We did a lot of 1 v 1 type of stuff, full field scrimmage against another team, 8 meter play. Than the running you asked about was something like a 40-50 yd dash and you do it once I think. I always run faster against fast people because for some reason that's when my true speed comes out so I made sure to pick someone near or above my speed level.

Though it sounds rough if you stay calm and really try to forget about the fact that it's try outs you'll do fine. The coaches are all very nice and from my experience the girls were too.

*EDIT* - Don't wear a ribbon in your hair, funky socks, or jewelry, etc. They really do stress the blending in once you're there 'cause all they want to see if your number. They made girls take out bows and stuff. Last year they had us wear black shorts and a plain white t-shirt. DON'T forget your mouthguard and goggles!! A teammate of mine did and we had to run around the night before looking for a pair.

I'll be there. I am a little nervous, but I am excited just to have the chance. I am not expecting to make it because I am a sophmore, but I just want to give it a try. What school do you play for? I play for Newtown, maybe I'll see you there. =) Good Luck.
