I'm pretty sure it's called a leatherman. I have one that i got at a knife show (i think?) and i use it when stringing. It's pretty useful. The leatherman is just a brand name.

The funny thing is, I saw this place in a magazine where you could get Leatherman tools custom engraved, and they looked the EXACT same as the "Stringer's Tool." I have a Leatherman and they aren't all that useful, Swiss Army Knives are much better.

I love my Leatherman, I used to have one but it got stolen from my gym locker...Damn freshmen. I got another one, I cant find it but im pretty sure I left it at a friends house. I seriously dont leave home without one. 13 bucks is a steal for a good one, the cheapest i've seen for a quality multi-tool was 30 bucks.

i have one of those all it is is a carpenters tool with lacrosse engraved on the side wast of money!!!!!
I have one but not with lacrosse on the side, its just a regular multi tool with pliers and a knife and stuff i use it every time i string the pliers help pull it tight and to do the burned edges into points, and the knife i cut the string with and sometimes ill use the punch tool to stick strings through small holes

Right on, it's not even a real Leatherman or a good quality imitiation from a reputable knife manufacturer. You can get the same 'stringer's tool' for under $5 at a flea market, probably Wal-Mart, or other cheap junk store. It won't have "LACROSSE" engraved on it, but then it won't be $15 either.

I have the great atlantic one, the pliers are weak and the case is cheap, but I do use it.

i know i hate them. but just burn the string and lick ur fingers and pull it up. it will get thinner and also just burn a little further down so u have something solid to push on when pushing the string through the hole.

Thats true, but sometimes I string for people after school/in study halls, so its much easier for me just to carry a multitool and a lighter than about 5 different utensils.
On a side note, I always have at least 2 dura meshes, 3 yards of sidewall and a 108" hockey lace on me at all times. :chuckle:
