This thread is made for people to post and ask about top string, sidewalls or bottom strings. Or post pics of top strings, sidewalls or bottom strings.
Example: I have a problem with my P2's bottom string, how do I string it.
Or
Example: Here is a picture of one of the ways to string the P2's bottom string [insert pic].
This can help people get answers easier and cut down on threads asking the same questions.

No, when you search it looks for thread titles and words in threads that match the search.
EDIT: Just tried it, typed in 'p2 bottom string' and this thread appeared in the results.
EDIT: Also if a Mod stickies this it would always be at the top of the page.

TOPSTRING:
when you do the topstring the first thing you have to do is tye the mesh to the sidewall. First you tye the knot and send it through the whole then you come up from below the diamond and through the outsde of the whole. then you come back through the whole here is a pic that will help explain better
<a href="http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring12tt.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/9448/topstring12tt.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>
once you get the mesh tied to the sidewall you will have to attach it to the lip of the stick. there are many ways to do this and i will show you a few:
the basic way of doing this is like this
<a href="http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring26ss.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/2125/topstring26ss.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>
then there is doubling up at the top which is just doing the basic topstring twice. it looks like this
<a href="http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring34eq.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/3823/topstring34eq.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>
then there are these also are just variations of the basic topstring. here are some pics
http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/6231/topstring42sf.th.jpg (http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring42sf.jpg)
http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/4991/topstring56en.th.jpg (http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring56en.jpg)
ZIG ZAG
you can only do a zig zag topstring if you have a warrior,brine,gait/debbeer head the stx heads topstring hole dont accomodate this style of topstring.
in order to do a zig zag topstring you will need a little mor string than you would if you were going to do a normal topstring. you start buy tying the mesh to the had as shown above but i will post it again
[http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/676/topstring224hd.th.jpg (http://img510.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring224hd.jpg)
then you go through the first top hole and and come down threw the third whole from the end
http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/9369/topstring338io.th.jpg (http://img510.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring338io.jpg)
continue that until it looks like this
http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/4276/topstring447ui.th.jpg (http://img510.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring447ui.jpg)
then tie it off the same way you did at the begining and if you need more specific pics just pm me then you come back the other wayand go through the same whole your started in. this is what the final product looks like this.
http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/5537/topstring555uz.th.jpg (http://img510.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring555uz.jpg)
http://img466.imageshack.us/img466/9752/topstring661ea.th.jpg (http://img466.imageshack.us/my.php?image=topstring661ea.jpg)
i will add and edit this if i forgot anything just let me know. and sorry about the pics i took them on my camera phone

THE SIDEWALLS
there are numerous ways to do sidewalls and i will do my best to explain them to you.
STARTING OFF
the first thing you do no matter what the style of stringing is put the string through the first open whole at the top of the head. then you pull the string up from under the first diamond andlock down the second diamond. her is a pic a am doing it in red to show it more clearly.
http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/3924/sidewall19te.th.jpg (http://img57.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sidewall19te.jpg)
LOCKED DOWN
locked down is continuing to do the sidewall the same as you did the second diamond all the way down the stick. when you want to make a pocket you skip a whole where you want it. continue this all the way to the bottom.
not where you want the pocket
http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/6330/sidewall21su.th.jpg (http://img235.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sidewall21su.jpg)
where you want the pocket
http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/970/sidewall15ii.th.jpg (http://img235.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sidewall15ii.jpg)
GIANT POCKET orange way
i developed this stringing style way before i joined the forums but now i guess i know its name. this style IMO is the easiest styleof stringing. after you do the first two diamonds like shown obove you continue going through one diamond until you get to where you want to make the pocket then you double up on the diamonds.
where you dont want the pocket
]
where you want the pocket
REGULAR
i guess this is what you call regular but regular is relative to the person. ok enough of that to string the sidewalls regulare you start off the same way you would if you were doing any other type. instead of going over then down through the wholes you go up from the bottom then down from the top my pictures will better explain
this pic isnt the best but if you look to the far right you will see how to do it where you dont want the pocket, and in the middle of the pic it shows where you want the pocket

Depends on your playing style. Rough side would be more hold and a bumpier release. The smooth side would be a smoother and better shot, and less hold. Theres not that much of a difference between them, but some people are picky about it.

Yeah so just wondering... whats better, a flat out good pocket or a good pocket helped by a double sidewall.
Basically, are there any downsides to a double sidewall?

Double sidewalls are a bit harder to keep legal. They get huge bag pockets though if you can keep them legal.

So, you're saying that if you can string a giant mesh pocket, (or just make a good pocket by pounding), than its better than a double sidewall?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just wondering because I'm stringing up a stick (X3, if that makes a difference) soon.

Well, that is personnal preference. You cant really pount a pocket to have a bag as big as double sidewalls, but you can make one as deep. If you like bags, either follow oranges giant mesh pocket tutorial, or use a double sidewall stringing. If you want just a medium pocket, without a huge bag, than just string a normal pocket.

Pros:
more hold
able to tweak
string like you like
cons:
tons of repairing
can be messed up in rain of not taken care of right
can get tons of whip

There isnt anything wrong with the head. On STX heads, The topstring holes are lower than the rest of the scoop, So there is going to be a slight gap between the lip and the mesh no matter what. Its unavoidable. Is the performance effected by it?
