no, its the inside. rule 1-16 section 18. THe head of the crosse at its widest point shall measure between 6 1/2 and 10 inches, INSIDE MEASUREMENT, at the top and bottom of the sidewall.

It's the BLUE, INSIDE measurement.

is it common that they ill give penalities for sticks being FRACTIONS of cm's too pinched?

like will they bust out a digital measuring device and if ur .000001 cm below 6 and 1/2 ull get a penalty

is it a thing i should worry about? i mean its damn close to 6.5

Absolutely. If the tape measure says you're under 6.5 then its a penalty. Some refs might let you go if you're 6.5 or 6.49999. But sounds to me like you have a problem.

here when they do a stick check they just use a lil stick thats around 6 1/3 in or so and slide it in the widest part of the head, if it gets stuck they call the penalty, if not then your good to go.

so here they are loose up until 6 1/3 but dont push it!

It depends on how anal your ref is about an illegal stick

cut a pencil at about 6 3/4 inches and fill your sink with hot water... leave your head in their until the water is room temperature. then dry off your head and wait for the plastic to reach room temp (about 10 mins). this is the most effecient way to make slight adjustments to the pinch of yur head. the reason i say to stretch it bigger than you want is b/c this isnt a brutal boiling or baking, the pinch will fall out slightly so that you get the perfect legal pinch.

amateurs...on almost every single head, there's a horizontal line at the top. that's almost 100% of the time the widest point of the head. from the INSIDE, measure the distance from one point of the line to the other.

Jeez, you're so close.

As long as the ball doesn't trap in the throat, I'd just play with that stick and not worry about anything.....you have what, maybe a 1/18 chance, or less of being the sap who gets singled out for the random check each time its done?

Lets say you get caught......is a 3 minute man-up even all that huge a deal either.....with no shot clock, all you have to do is get the ball back once, penalty over!

So, if you get called, you get called.....no biggie, there are probably worse "cheaters" on your team and your opponents' teams.

All this fun and games....I much prefer the box (4.5") rule. What I prefer even more is that the rule is widely ignored, that no one cares that the whole other team is cheating, and no one ever requests a stick check!

Rockstar, are you kidding me? A 3 minute penalty isn't a huge deal either? That's ridiculous, waht kind of team player are you, if I ever heard my teammates talkin like that I'd smack them upside the head. No biggie, lol...right.

Just saying, CC's stick is close to legal, he's unlikely to be singled out, and if he does get called, it ain't the end of the world. I'd just forget about it and play.

I don't play field, but I still don't figure a 3 minute penalty is all that big a deal. We really don't worry much about a 2 minute one in box, and with you guys, there's tonnes more room to move, and there's no shot clock.......as I said before, ragging a few minutes off the clock under those circumstances shouldn't be all that much of a feat.

CC: If you're really worried, try cutting out a piece of plywood in a shape that will give you a 6.5" scoop. Just jam it in, tie it, and stick the tip in some boiling water for a few minutes.

Rockstar, you're right it isn't that hard to waste the penalty but you have to get the ball first, and then from there its a double team and everybody else locks off.

Just put the scoop end on the ground and push down on the shaft. Face of sticks always lose their shape and become too narrow. Just push down you can make up 1/4 of an inch. Keep an eye on it and play.

A three min non-releaseable foul is huge in games that are close. Catch one of those between the third and fourth quarters can be just nuts. Some random checks are based on not just whose on the field, but how significant a player they are. In addition I'm finding that coachs, are calling for more and more stick checks as part of their strategy. It costs them nothing if they are wrong the first time! So if the game is close and you can gain an advantage, why not.
