I started coaching a new lax team at my college this season. I used all "walk-ons". I'd like to start recruiting for next season. Does anyone have a letter that I could send to local HS coaches announcing our new team and requesting possible recruits?

I sent out flyers to local schools here and some of them put it on their Intranet. Others blew me off, but I'll keep trying.

Here's a text message I sent first, since some don't like getting attachments. Keep in mind that most people in Norway have no idea what lacrosse is:

The Stavanger Lacrosse Club (www.stavanger-lacrosse.4t.com) seeks players of all experience levels. Stavanger is the newest lacrosse team in Norway, following Bergen and two teams in Oslo.

Players can join the team or we can form additional teams at the school or univesity level. The International Schools of Brussels and Rome are two successful youth teams in Europe and Bergen and Oslo have university teams. Eventually, players should have their own equipment, but the team will have enough to lend to new players.

Lacrosse is the oldest North American team sport and is rapidly growing in Europe. Many of your students may have played as exchange students in the US, Canada, England, and many other countries. It is a contact sport, somewhat like ice hockey played on grass and in the air. It has been called "the fastest game on two feet."

Anyone interested in lacrosse can view and participate in demonstrations at the Kjelvene Folkepark, Hesbygata, Stavanger at 14:00 on Sunday, 22 January and 12 February. Regular practice will start in late February or early March. We can also arrange clinics at your location or can form school teams. If possible, we are also looking for fields for games and/or practices.

For more information, please call Bob Scheider at 5134 2393 (day) or 9280 2210 (cell) or email: bob_scheider@yahoo.com and website www.stavanger-lacrosse.4t.com. We can also email flyers for those who are interested.

Thank you,
Bob Scheider
