In a NESLL game yesterday I did a pencil check on a kid.

What is the best check you've done in a game?

A kid was running the ball up the sidelines and I railed him out of bounds and he hit the scorers table and swept everything off of it

last game, I did a poke check and it knocked the ball out of his stick.. I suppose its just as good as any of the checks anyone else listed or anyone will list, seeing as how it got the same result.

Some kid tried driving to the net and thought I had my back turned to him and didn't know where he was b/c I was covering another man. I turned around real fast, wound up, and broke his stick in half with a great check. I didn't know I had done that till the end of the quarter when my teammates told me.

I yard saled this guy w/ a poke check the other day...I was stoked because to make a long story short this guy's pretty good to say the least & it was the first time instead of just stayin home & playin position on him I had gone out to play him

Boy, you are HILARIOUS.

Boy, you are SARCASTIC.

He's right, though. The "whoa's" are only momentary, but a simple poke check can do just as good of a job if not better than some crazy salvation check.

With that being said, I've done nothing spectacular, but one guy was on a break and a madly sprinted after him, dove, and checked his stick and knocked the ball free.

I yard saled this kid in a game a few weeks ago. The ball went flying out of bounds, and his stick went up into the air and came down and hit him lol...it was pretty funny

I can't think of anything too great, but in our game against Academy I was playing middie and this kid was on a break..I don't remember if he got past me or someone else but I sprinted from like 5 yards behind him and caught up to him. I considered diving but I figured I'd look whack if I missed, so I did a left handed wrap check. One of our coaches was like "LOOK AT THOSE LEGS!"

It's not all amazing as some other checks, but it got the job done and I was pretty darn proud of myself. (This was also after being on vacation for a week and not running or anything.)

i made up this silly check in a summer game I called it the jedi. I didnt think it would work, but this is how it goes: it's like you're trying to scratch your butt with your stick up over your head, and then you spin with your back to the attacker and go over his head with your stick behind your back. this check has only worked once, and i've only tried it twice.

The best check I have ever had was in our game yesterday...I yard saled this kid and his stick went flying like 5 yards to his left, he was looking for it but couldn't find it because it was farther away then he thought. Sooooo funny. :chuckle:

sounds hard but tight

one of my favorite checks to see done is hard to explain but is done very well in this video i put below...i don't know what it's called i guess it's just a backwards wrap...it doesn't even look like it's that hard it jsut has to be thrown accurately & set up just right

In winter league last year my team had shot on the cage and the goalie saved it. The other team went for the clear and i went to cover my D-pole. The field was spread out, so the goalie thought he could run down the field. Right before he got to midfield, i started chasing him, and he just suddenly stopped to look for an open man. His whole team was screaming "MAN ON!! MAN ON!!", but it was too late. I lifted my stick up and checked down on his stick do bad i yardsaled him. Then, i grabbed the ball off the ground and looked up. One of the greatest sights ever was in front of me...OPEN NET!!!! I sprinted closer to it and let in a little pass/shot. That turned out to be our game winning goal. It was sick

well when a kid was running down the right side line cradling left handed, i sprinted up to him and knocked his stick at least ten yards behind him, and the ball came out in the air so i caught it, rolled off a midfielder, and sprinted over to the goal and scored. the kids stick was bent when i saw it after the play

The best checks are always blindsides hits from goalies. When everyone on the sidelines just wince from watching the hit.

Ive had one done to me. I was going for a GB and I was wide open... until the goalie came out of the crease and hammered me. I didnt knoow what happened until I looked up and saw him pick it up.

I running to the side of a guy and he thought he was a BA cradleing one-handed. I could tell he was gunna try and do a role dodge ( he ws very predictible, did the same stuff ). I got in position and wrap checked him. It was great. The ball dropped and we got it. Is'nt that the point? Haha. I did make a kids stick spin like crazy that game. Ha.

I think it's a toss up, but my junior year of college, I caught a pass from our goalie at the midfield line that was way over my head. I snagged it one handed, then turned around to see a defender who had lined me up from the restraining line.. he charged at me with his shoulder dropped.. just as I turned around, i lowered my shoulder and hit him on his leading shoulder (the one he was trying to hit me with), he went flying, and landed straight on his back.. I then jumped over him, and ran by a few guys for a one on one with the goalie (and you all know how "good" I am at one-on-ones)..

the thing about the hit was that it was on the sideline right next to a bunch of people who were watching the game.. they were like "..ooooh"

It was a few weeks ago. The ball got kicked out of a ground ball scrum. A long pole picked it up and still had his head down, I just unloaded into him. It was cold so all my snot flew out and got attatched to my facemask, I had to run off the field to get it all off.

Interestlingly enough my best check was against your goalie (well maybe not the same one...)

Freshman year in a game at Wheeling J, the goalie came out of the crease with the ball after a save looking to make the clear all by his lonesome. I managed to catch him at the top of the bax while he was trying to "walk the dog", I started to throw a one-handed downward check as he tried to move the stick for protection. As I made contact with his stick and a differrnt angle, the ball flew out and into the stick of on of fellow attack who made the next pass to our X guy who was closer to goal for the open net score. Of course we were still losing by more than ten but my coach thought it was a great ride nonwithstanding.

there was a pileup right next to the sidelines and one of my teamates kicked it out right next to me. So i called man and i knew the kid was going to hit me and i hit him with a legal check (he was smaller than me) and dropped him. Later during half, i found out that the kid had braces so when i hit him like by the chin guard. it actually made his four bottom front teeth go right through his lip and he had to leave the game to get stitches.

i pulled a rusty gate playing longstick middie in a game on saturday. probably the best check iv done in a while because the kid got so frustrated and slashed me in the head while i was running up the field with the ball, creating a man up situation late in the game

It's basically like thrwoing a wrap check behind your own back kind of. Imagine getting beat to one side and whipping your stick around your own back one handed to make a desperation check. It's pretty cool if you hit it but its probably less than 1 in 20 that you'll be effective and you look like a fool thrwoing it if you miss.

Yeah, its also a good way to get a slashing penalty.

i made up a check called the "row boat" (its kinda a joke for me and my team but it works) you put your hand in the posion like your rowing a boat, with the head of the stick towards the ground,....and then when a guy tries to do a roll doudge on you go over his head and come down on it then make the motion like your rowing a boat.............its alot like an over the head check just kinda a diffrent name and diffrent hand placement....i just do it when im playing around with my friends but still its a fun check to do.

ive had a lto but i had an especially sweet one the other day. this guy was driving and i pushed him with my bottom hand. he lost his balnce and as he was falling i had the sweetest, smoothest, sexiest over the head check ever. it was perfect. and my middie got it and he ran up and scored on a fast break.

last week, we played a teem we had beat earlier this season, and one of their players had injured 4 of our players(including me) he played dirty. So last week, when he did a roll dodge of one of our attackmen, he ran into me and i popped him right in the chest. he was on the ground for 15 minutes, had to be taken to the hospital, got a concussion, cant play for another 3 weeks, and i broke his helmet,
