Hello,
I am currently not playing lacrosse, as i missed the deadline to sign up before the season started. I have no gear, and am looking to buy it soon, to get a jump towards my freshman year next year.I will practice all spring, summer, fall and winter, but i need gear.
I have been just shooting around from time to time with my friends borrowed sticks. I feel it is time to buy gear of my own. I will be playing middie or defense, probally d. I have done reaserch, and have found some epuipment i might like, but i dont know what head to buy.
Here is my suggested equpiment from the research i've done.
helmet-the CHL2, that one is a obvious choice
shoulder pads- I am still debating, probally the warrior 4.0s. ($30-$50 limit here)
arms- warrior adrenaline pads? don't know good pads that wont pinch ($20-$40)
gloves- warrior adrenaline? dont know here. I like the multiple wrist holders, not just the single string. ($30-$50)
now to the stick:
shaft- looking pretty cheap here. the classic grips for like $50? or the $20 cheapy one? ($20-$55 here) i want help here
head- for the head, i would get a beginning head(cheap $30) practice until i learn the fundementals, then a good ($50-$60 shaft for my playing shaft) I need to pick out one of both. I was thinking the savage to start, and the revo for the season.....
Thank you all for sticking it out this long... Thank you all who post and give me good advice. Try to stay withing reasonable prices. BTW i DON'T want crap that will easily break....thanks

I play d, so i might be a little biased:
helmet-Chl2 is a youth helmet, but it might be ok
shoulder pads- the $.0s or 3.0s are great pads for a cheap price, i liek the 3.0s better pseronally
arms- if u can find them,(theyre not on lax.com anymore)i would highly recommend the STX shogun defense pads, they're only like $35
gloves- the adrenaline's dont look half-bad, looks like a pretty good glove
shaft- For a d shaft, your not going to want an aluminum, it will bend like no other. If your going to get a different one for playing, i would recommend that you practice in the off-season w/ an aluminum, and play with at least a Warrior Platinum CU31. You might get stronger practicing w/ and aluminum.
head- I recommend either a Revolution, or and Edge, great heads that are easy to start out with. You can find edges real cheap on the sales page at lacrosse.com (http://www.lacrosse.com) and revolutiosn are generally cheap these days

thank you for posting. BTW, i am 5'8 145 pounds if that helps any. Is the revo good for a beginner? I am really just starting from scratch, but will practice a lot. My freinds say the revo is a difficult stick to begin with, but they dont study d sticks. Thanks for the input.

nah revo's are pretty good beginner sticks. not to offset, and not to pinched.
id reccomend the warrior CU31 shaft.

dont bother wasting your time on an aluminum shaft. It will bend every which way and youll just have to buy a new one.
for the head, go with the Gait Icon

i think most people agree that this is the best head you can get for under $30
for arm pads and shoulder pads, just get whatevers cheap or on clearance

scorpions message didn't help much. I couldnt find someof the things he was talking about... I think I will get the revo now. I don't have a lot of monney now,, and once my birthday hits, i will get a CU31. Heres my modified list. feel free again to tell me if i'm wrong, i'm very open minded:
helmet- CHL2 ($100)
shoulders- warrior hitman 4.o's ($50)
arms- maybe the shoguns. I don't want to be slashed on my arms w/ no protection. ($20-$40)
gloves: The Warrior adrenalins look like a nic e, affordable pair. ($50)
stick:
shaft- nevermind the two different sticks, I will probally get a Warrior CU31 ($60)
head- the Revo is starting to sound good right about now. Hopefully I can learn to play easily enough on it...($60)
for your birthday, u can probably get a better shaft
if ur willing to spend $100 on a shaft get a kyrptolyte
Torque42

100 on a klyte who are u kidding
Get a F15 for longpole 60
And a Torque 68 unstrung( get a friend to string it)
thats 128 but you will never need a new stick for a year or two atleast

Revo. It's wider, allowing for easier catching and its easier to knock passes down, and it's cheaper.

if your going to splurge,i say do it on the gloves. spend a little more money and pick up a pair of defts. they run about 80 dollars. They are excellent gloves. for the armpads, Bike sells a pad that is made for football, but can double as a lax AP. they are 10ish dollars, and youll find them at you local dicks, SA, or other Big box athletic store.

do all your online shopping at laxstore.com. of you use the code, Laxnation, you get 12% off.
also, laxnation did a really good breakdown of a beginners package a while back

Welcome to the lacrosse forums, congrats for wanting to pick up lax. I hope you got some basis for a decision on here. But you should read the stickies at the top of the forums. They have the rules in them and unfortunately this thread is against the rules..I will help out a bit though..
For a head you Do NOT want a torque...Get the revolution, it is a great head and a lot of defenders like it...
I suggest you head over to www.laxshopper.com for pricing on any of the gear you want to look up. They have a huge selection of everything you are looking for and have pictures and reviews there. They also have the prices of all the top online stores.
And the best stringing for d is just regular mesh...IMO...but its all preference...
