View Full Version : getting lip (not getting rid of it)

i know if u want to get rid of lip u put a tight nylon shooter near the top. but say i string a head reg. with no nylon shooters but it doesn't have any lip and doesn't come off the top of the head at all but i want it to. what do i do? how do u increase lip or even get a little of it if you dont have any once the stick is strung.

not whip. LIP. i know how to get whip. u tighten the shooters. but lip i mean it coming off of the top of the head more. its not only me btw. some kids i string sticks for like it to hit off the top so it has a feel. i dont like it personally but i need to know for wen i string their sticks. also curious might try it on my matrix.

Gigo how stoned are you today ? I've seen you call a crankshaft a crackshaft and lip whip now.
Anyway, put a really tight nylon up there without adjusting your shooter's and it will simulate whip without the inconsistensy

alright thanks but will it make it hit off the top of the head more?

No, it will hit the nylon making it feel like it's hitting the top. Hitting the scoop makes it throw sideways(slighty) alot and sometimes very sideways

move your shooters down or lossen the top ones. Or if that doesn't work also loosen the sidewalls

already said its not me. my friend likes it to hit the top and i am stringing his stick so..... i was also curious and i searched and nothing came up so i posted

I have heard of this before, its because you want to feel the ball come out right? otherwise thats the only reason I have ever heard
two ways i know
On ur shooters do the top loose, the middle tight and the lowest loose it will work.
Or
String the shooters low on the pocket and loose

string your shooters looser, and this seems to work for me (not that i do it it just happens) when the mesh is loose at the top i get lip. so pound the crap out of the mesh at the plastic and it should get loose and you'll have lip.

yea i like lip as well... i have a Cali Connection pocket...(the real one) and i dont use it cause your cant feel the ball leave the stick at all

maybe you could suggest something
double up on the very top sidewall so the mesh bunches up near the scooop.. pound in the mesh near the scoop and that should do the trick

you shouldnt loosen your sidewalls ever. they should be as tight as you can get them so the pocket is consistent.

take out all of the strings. make a channel with some laces. it will keep the ball in the middle of the pocket, and you'll have ultimate lip.
Am I wrong?

loosen all the shooters and dont even use a nylon if you want the lip.

move the shooters so that they are 2 down from top and instead of doubling up with 9 for the topstring do it with 10 so there are 2 diamonds in between the 2 middle holes instead of one. this will make the two diamonds go a little farther back therefore if you dont have a nylon it will hit the lip.
