I take faceoffs. In a game yesterday, one kid i was facing off against got a misconduct. The ref said 'down', i went down, the other kid stood there for a few seconds then went down, he was fiddling with his stick. When he was down and set in position, his shooters were very clearly touching the lacrosse ball. The ref gave him a misconduct for going down late, and i was awarded posession. However, he would have gotten it anyway because his shooters were touching the ball, right? No part of your mesh or stick is allowed to touch the ball, correct?

Yes, you are correct. Nothing can be touching the ball.

Delaying when coming down on the faceoff is a violation, although the advantage it gives depends on the level of play. In a JV game, I'd just tell the kid to hurry up. In a good college club game, the guy is delaying so he can see the opponent's setup and counter it, and I'll award the ball.
However, if one guy is going down super fast just to try to get the delay call on the other guy, no call.

Simple delay of game, no misconduct to me. Award ball to opponent. Misconduct is a bit harsh, even though he serves no time in either. But to tell a player he committed a misconduct can be construed as "the ref hates me", and we don't need that stuff. So, simple delay of game and away we go.

There is no misconduct call in field lacrosse. I think he must be talking box, or he's confused about the call.
In any case, it's an illegal procedure, but not a delay of game.

as Laxref said, illegal procedure. If the player continues to do it he can be hit with a conduct foul (30 second tech).

Actually, since it's before a faceoff and no one has possession, it can't be a time-serving conduct foul (equivalent to a loose-ball technical). But repeatedly committing the same technical foul is a releasable USC foul of 1:00.
