i think it's when you are guarding the man with the ball

It is when you are the slide. Usually the d-man on the crease is the slide, and therefore yell's "I'm hot!" To let people know where the slide is coming from if the dman guarding the ball is beaten. Then, the d man on the opposite side from the guy with the ball(if the ball was top left, this man would be bottom right) yell's "I'm two!" meaning he will pick up the man that the slide left open.

fire to our defenses means that they are the first slide of the crease..it could also be next slide as in adjacents.

Like others said, some teams use "I'm hot" to mean he's the next slide. We used "I'm cold" to mean the other was the second slide (other teams say "two"). This is especially ai you slide from the crewase, because "I've got your right (or left)" doesn't always work. "Fire" means "I'm sliding." I sometimes say that...sometimes "slide."

haha....

but yeah, im hot means the first slide. seconds, or i got second means they have the second slide to fill in for the guy who is hot. some teams even do thirds.

The term "I'm hot is usually only used for defense if the offense is in 2 2 or something else where there are 2 on the crease. then on my team the man thats the second slide says "I'm cold" If the offense is in something like a 1 3 2 or a 141 the slides are usually adjacent and the defense calls out "I'm left, or I'm right"

what it means is if the ball is up top and the d man has the next slide he will yell "I'm Hot" telling the d middie that he has the slide if he gets beat and the other d ment that they should prepare to slide if the "hot" d man does need to slide

We tend to use hot right/left to give a bit more idea of whats going on

second slides are always a big issue for us!

and lets not forget that the guy covering the man with the ball should be yelling out "ive got ball" or at the very least "ball"

It's should be a midfielder, who screms "I'm hot" and the opposite person to the ball who screams "I'm cold", but it depends on situation, everyone just has to talk. Like if the offense sets up in a 1-4-1 and I'm a midi. next to a Dman, then i say if its on your side you take the hot, if its on my side I take the hot, then that would mean you take the could and vice versa, same works on fast breaks, but that's a different story...okay I'll shutup now...
