This might be a stupid question, but deal with it.
Alot of my friends say that running outdoor on a track is better than a tred mill. Is there any truth to this?

im not really sure, but i think an outdoor track would go easier on you legs, preventing shin splints, and knee problems.

I like running on a track alot better. When I run on the treadmill, I usually screw around too much like ramping all the way up and then stopping, and then grabbing my skateboard and riding it on it. Plus for some reason, my treadmill mile time is like 10:32, but my track time is around 8:00. I don't think I could get that much slower from running on a machine instead.

Yeah, running outside on your own is better than any treadmill. It's easier on your joints, and also it's a different style of running when you think about it. Since the ground is moving and you're trying to stay in place on a treadmill, your legs (or at least mine) tend to push off more "up" than "out."
Any time you have the choice between machine and non-machine exercises, choose the non-machine (at least use it as a rule of thumb).

good rule. i run out side if it's nice out and on a treadmill if the weather sucks. if you run on the track you can run with your stick but it's hard to on a treadmill

yeah and plus getting used to the air outside and the air inside is a difference. because i remember i was in shape from basketball but then the first lacrosse practices outside made me more tired. and my dad said because the air is lighter outside or something
I hate both, but if i had to choose, I'd go with the track, just because I'm going SOMEWHERE...but that's just me...

Track is much better. Running on the treadmill uses slightly different muscles than running on a real surface. Also, breathing in outside, fresh, air is better than running in inside air

The track is a lot better for me. On the treadmill, you canht slow up a little bit without pressing a lot of buttons.

I heard somewhere that treadmills are hard on your back? Yeah...I definitely enjoy running elsewhere.

Ever run on a tredmill for like 10 minutes and then when you get off and walk you feel like you're superman moving at like 100mph?

personally, i like to a change of scenery while i'm running. Though there have been times when i've watched tv on a treadmill, but usually i'm out pounding the pavement.
