faceoff tricks

what are some cool and useful lacrosse faceoff tricks. I like the one where you cover the ball, box out, then push down to pinch your head and pick up the ball on the back of your head. Any other useful ways?

What you just described is called a plunger. THere arent a lot of fancy things you can do, just get the ball lol

My friend can do it, sort of. He does a little more of a somersault than handstand but it is still cool. I'll try to take a clip of it next time.

i do can do it u just have to clamp and roll
but if u have a ilegal stick the ball gets stuck u need a good pinch so thr ball can still fall out
the only thing u have to do is make sure u make it work cuz u look liek an idiot if it dun works

yeah you would look pretty stupid if you tryed that and it didnt work. i usually just read onto what the other guy does. if he goes for a quick trap i usually try to sweep it under him or just power over him. i usually play attack so i rarely take faceoffs, but in box im draw man for my jr team.

Stick your finger out...just kidding. It really all depends on what your opponent does. If he clamps, just shove your stick forward.

Well, seeing as how everyone always seems to clamp, I pretty much use a jump/reverse clamp every single time.

actually sticking your finger out works. it works better if you do it with your knuckle though. but it is illegal. i like just stepping between the stick and the man. its great on the first faceoff. the guy has to take one hand off to win it and then he spends a second wondering if thts legal or not

Face-off specific sticks are great. FOGO string jobs with the "tooth" at the scoop are awesome for clamps and rakes.

This one just shows how it is strung. It is basic trad, but you make a lot of space at the top so that the leather is REALLY loose.

This is how much it holds the ball in the back. It kind of "bites" into it, (hence the tooth), and gives you pretty good grip on a rake. You can also do some sick moves like a sort of reverse indian, or if you win the clamp, turn 90 degrees to point the butt end of your stick down to your attackmen, and fling it all the way down overtop of the defenders and set up a super fast break of sorts.

Here you can see how much it lets the ball in if a guy is gonna clamp, you can hook it right out of his stick if you are tied up. I have never lost a clamp with this stick in a game, only ever to my coach, and he is the sickest face-off guy I have ever seen. This was his stick, after all.

I can just beat everyone with a clamp, speed wise. But occasionally the face off guy is a man who doesnt even clamp and just hits me or who loses the clamp, I get past him and have a fast break but havent accelerated enough yet so I draw a penalty when he sends me flying from behind. Fun stuff.
