Two days ago i had a game, and as the speaking captain i asked one of the refs between 1st and 2nd qtr to check some of the kids sticks on the other team cause they had metal on their butt end sticking out. Nothing happened, so i asked the other ref during half time. Nothing.

Are refs not supposed to listen to stick check requests?
And also, even though they had a butt end, it looked like they pounded their stick on the ground w. their butt end so much the metal ripped through the rubber end (exposing some metal). Is that ok?

Please tell me if i should clarify at all.

The only person that is allowed to ask for a stick check is the head coach. The head coach must ask for a double horn at the table. They will sound the horn at the next dead ball. The bench side ref will come to the table and at that time the coach can ask for a stick check on a certain player. The ref will now ask that player for his stick and he will check it at center X with the other official to see if it is legal or not.

I hope this will help you

You can point out a missing butt end to the officials, and they should correct it; no penalty assessed. As others have mentioned, only the coach can call for an equipment check.
