Situation happened in JV game today. (NFHS Rules)

Team A is leading by 2 with under 2 minutes to go into the game and has 1 person in penality box. Team B loses ball in own defensive end, Team A picks up ball and proceeds to enter box, I yell to team A "Keep it in". After the game, my partner whom has many more years experience than I do told me that he thought since team A was down at the time and until the penality is released, they didn't have to keep it in. We looked in the rule book on the way back for this and could not find anything about this. Was this the correct call or not?

Under 2:00, the leading team always has to keep it in, regardless of how many players they have in the box. The confusion arises because under the old advance the ball rules (still used in ILF), a team couldn't be called for stalling when they were killing a penalty. Under present NFHS and NCAA rules, it's not really an issue anymore because all areas outside of the box are controlled by some sort of count.
My only question is, can you put on a stall warning when a team is killing a penalty prior to the final 2:00?

Yes! And you always could. The rules were really messed up, though, since there was an A.R. that said you couldn't be called for stalling when man-down. But this clause was in the defensive stalling section, and the offensive stalling section had it's own A.R.s. Anyway, that whole section on defensive stalling is now gone, including the ambiguous A.R.s. So NCAA is clear.

For NFHS, see http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=37662 near the bottom of the first post (Situation 6.10 A).
