I have a problem. I just learned how to cradle, and have been practicing a lot. i think I may be doing something wrong, whenever I cradle a lot at one time(25 or so times in a row) I really hurt my forearm. It just randomly starts hurting. It is like an ache, and I can only do like 5 more after this starts. Am I doing anything wrong? I think i'm cradling the right way. thanks.

You must either be doing it wrong, or over exerted yourself cradeling. You might have streched/strained your tricept... causing it to ache when you use it. Just wait a few days, and try cradeling again. If it hurts, i would head over to a doctor and see whats up. Or if you have a friend who knows how to cradle, he can make sure your doing it right first.

nah you just have to work those muscles. Training shaft i recomend. Mine does that at the beginning of every season but by the end its all good.

Just work through it, like whslax1990 my forearms get sore at the beginning of every season. It should go away soon.

Wait wait wait... have you ever worked out? Is it the same dull ache you get from working out? If not, you might wanna see a doctor. It could be Carpal Tunnel (I have it from guitar... I quit playing guitar in the fall so that my arms will be perfect).

If it is just from weak muscles, hit the weight room. Cross train it, otherwise you'll overwork it and you won't be gaining strength. Don't work it till it hurts every day (give a day of rest)

Also have you ever broken your arm (more recently). I broke my humurous and after it healed it hurt a lot to cradle (went on for about 4 months) then it finally stopped.

no, I haven't broken my arm. It just is a dull dull pain. I haven't ahud any reason to train my forearms, because i have never used them before. Is it that before season thing, or a different thing do you think?

i think you just gotta get your arm used to cradling. maybe take a day off and rest it, then keep cradling till it hurts again and so on. then eventually it will probably go away. but if it does keep hurting for like the next 3-4 weeks you might be doing it wrong or you might need to get it checked out by a doctor

Humerus :) That's my dickhead comment of the week...

Anyways, if it's a dull pain then it's probably soreness. Just work it till it starts aching 2-3 times a week, with rest days in between those days. If you don't find that in a month your forearms are strengthening then see a doctor.

My left arm started getting the same thing when I wallballed (back when my left arm had been pretty much unused) because of the rapid plyometric movements. Just work through it when you absolutely have to (games, etc), otherwise do what I said above.

yeah that used to happen to me when i would cradle a attack stick but now i can cradle my wood d pole no problem its just that if you are new to lax you dont often make a cradle motion in anyother sport so those mucles are really weak

its not you working wrong, its just you have noodle arms. They will get stronger as you either lift or just cradle. I could craddle for a year without getting sore but at the ebginning of the season it was a workout to do it for 5 minutes.

I sugguest craddling till you can not anymore, then waiting a minute and doing it again until it no longer gets sore.

Thanks alot you guys. I am new to LAX, and have just learned how to cradle only 3 days ago. Should I do waht Big-Red said, or should I do that every other day? I think its just a weak weak area of my body that I have never really used before. Thanks for all the input

U should joind gigos noodle arm cult...jk i have the same problem but thats only after hours of practicing. U dont have to cradle hard just enough to have the centrifugal force kep the ball in.

why not just chop your forearms off, if youve never used them....less weight more speed? just kidding....but seriously maybe you should give it a break for like a day or two and then try again....

you suck the massive monkey testicle. How can you hurt your arm cradeling are you completely retarded or something. My grandma can cradle and not get hurt. You are oviously cradeling like a mad man. Try beating it, that helps you fore arm muscles. Just quite lax GOD

guess you don't want to last long here at TLF

Are you lifting weights? Specifically doing bicep curls? If you are -- chances are you are curling your wrists. That will destroy your wrists, and will make them ache like crazy.

i like to build up my forearms by squeezing one of those things like a grip master, or sometimes a tennirs ball.

I dunno a tennis ball will kinda do jack all,i mean it weigths like two ounces. You should try lifting maybe like a small relative or something. And the grip master is kinda for guitar players you loser, they help make your fingers stronger, so if you have noooodley fore arms then that wont help. PEACE OUT

When I spin my stick with my bottom hand it makes my wrist hurt, and then when I type on the computer it makes it worse.

Hmm, just make sure your using your wrist. Its more wrist then arm really when cradling. You should get used to cradling, but learn how to do it right so you dont hurt yourself or pick up bad habits.

That is because you are kinda of a loser. For one thing your do not spin your stick with your bottom hand thats what your top one is for, and you shouldnt really do that in games so it is useless and when you are typing the only reason your arm hurts is because you hold your wrist way to low it has nothing to do with you forearm. GOD

What is up with this guy???? his first account was deleted (ponies rule) so he comes back with poniesrule2 and still is a jackas* . Stop complaining and being rude on this thread. And your first messsage was vile and straight up rude :thumbsdow . Stop posting if you aren't going to help anybody. http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=10017 number 6 is exactly what i am talking about. No crappy posts just to flame!

Anyways, back to the thread. i think my problem was that I was putting too much arm into it. I was going up almost to my shoulder, now I am going halfway, and it feels a little better. I still must be putting to much into it. Thanks for all your support and answers everyone!

wow guys im sorry. i had no idea people here didnt like to be told that they have a little flaw in their lacrosse game. but i guess if you dont want to get better and be the best lacrosse player that you can be that is fine with me. my suggestion is that you put the lacrosse stick down, and quit.but HEY! whos listening to me, obviously not killman because hes to busy worrying about if he is actually going half way or if he is going a little over and that is the exact reason why his forearms are hurting, it couldnt be the fact that he is probably doing it to fast and that he has noodles for arms

I think I'm speaking for everyone on this thread, but would you just stop putting us (me) down. Sure, I am just starting out the game, but you cannot expect everyone to be good at everything right away. people have problems, people ask on this forum to gain a better understanding of the game. You were new right? everyone once was. and you had some problems with your game right? everyone had at least one.

This forum is based around the thought of exchanging pieces of information, not putting other memebers down just because they have a problem. All I want to do is learn about thhe game, not get put down just because I am not sure about something. If everyone had a problem, but was too afraid of being put down to ask it, this forum wouldn't get a single member. I want to know what I am doing wrong, thats all. I don't want to quit the sport just because I havce a small problem. I have had my stick for a good 8 days, and i have a problem, so i ask it. end of story. anyways, i justv wanted a question answered, which i got.

By the way, no one is listening to you because you are just randomly flaming at everyone on this thread. and you wonder why your other account was suspended. stop flaming!

Check out the fundamentals tutorial at the top of the training forum. There's no videos on there, but a good description of cradling as well as other advice. Hopefully there will be videos soon.

You said you practice a lot. You could be practicing too often and putting strain on the muscle. try resting it for a week.
