We have played a few games so far and I have noticed that our conter d-man is sliding even though we have a man on the crease. They get easily beat or they pass it off to the crease man and the opposing team scores.

As a goalie, what things can I do? What should our d-men do if there is a man in the open and a man on the crease? Should he go to the man and leave the other or should he hang back?

Thanks for any help.

As a goalie, it's partially your responsibility to let everyone know who the 1 and 2 slides are.

i think you should just leave the goal and stuff the guy or intercept the pass, after all he is only like a couple yards away,

depends, when the crease guy slides. Is the guy thats open a few yards out. I rather have a shot come from 5-10yds out then on the crease. If he does slide, as soon as the guy passes it to the crease, clear him out.

If a guy is open up top with the ball, and there is no middie who can slide first, then the crease absolutely should slide. The entire defense should then react and someone from the side should slide to the open crease. This should create enought time for the guy who got beat up top to SPRINT back to the hole and pick up a guy.

If that's how your defense is supposed to play, then that's how they're supposed to play.

Nailing the crease kid, or going stick to stick with him is all you can do...

Yeah, if a guy is on crease, our crease guy slides no matter where the dodge comes from and then the guy furthest away from the ball has to split his man and the empty crease guy. Your crease man is right, it is the #2 slide that needs to wake up. Unless you guys run something different from us.

if you have a crease slide package, the crease guy should go, and there should be a secondary slide from the weak side to cover the crease..
