hi
I am not very experienced. that is why im asking here. i do not understand the purpose of whip. i have a deep pocket but i seem to have little whip. if ppl throw with my stick they say that it throws straight up. apparently i have little or no whip right? but why would i need whip? i am a middi. does it help to shoot?i think its much easier to pass with less whip. throwing with other sticks is hjust awkward when passing because i have to throw it up intentionally. i cant really pass with whip pockets.
so could you guys think of mistakes in my passing motion that makes me not being able to pass with whip? or are you supposed to throw it up and not follow through? whenever i pass i dont just throw it up but i follow through all the way. when i do that with other sticks i just throw it on the ground because the ball doesnt even come out.
thanks

its preference, nothing much to it
just make sure you have the correct form when you thorw, and follow through and dont "push"

people want whip because it generally gives more control of the ball when you pass and shoot (even tough it throws down) and gives more hold

i dont see how you shoot faster with more whip.
i was thinking that you might need whip to shoot just to keep in accurate and prevent shooting above the goal as u put a lot of force into it
edit: its so confusing because i always read different things. low pocket = more or less whip?
shooters = whip or no whip?
thanks

shooters can give less or more whip it depends on how they are set up and how tight they are. low pocket can be both, depending on how you strung your stick and shooters.

Low pockets generally have less whip and less hold. High pockets usually have more whip and more hold. Like i live said, it depends on how the shooters are set up. If they go from loose to tight it a few rows it generates more whip. If they go from loose to tight in more than a few rows it generates less whip.

so i have 3 straight shooters. from loose to tight. would that generate whip or less whip.
and why would a low pocket generate less whip? the ball has a longer time to come out. when the pocket is higher it has a shorter way?
thanks

Again, I don't know how your shooters are set up. Post pics. Also, if you have a low pocket, the ball has more time to generate speed and come of of the shooters. If you have a higher pocket, the ball has less time to generate speed and will get caught on the shooters more.

ok makes sense.
so ultimately, the only things that matters is the speed u generate when u wanna know how high u throw it. ppl who have more whip than others can pass at the same height as others with little whip because the put more force in the throwing motion so that they generate more speed so that they throw high even though they have whip because their speed overcomes the shooters?
edit also is it good to be able to handle whip because u can throw as well as low whip people , but u have the advatages of whip like more hold when dodging?
